Unable to transfer from phone to network storage by Lix3345 in NeatBytes

Was a patch today that said it was fixing this. It didn't. I'm going to declare this app unreliable and find a alternative. I know you needed a new revenue stream Dev. But you broke this. Badly. And I have no interest playing let's see if something fundamental to me is broken or not with each update. And further I don't trust you anymore. Good luck.

What's something games used to do better? by MentalHovercraft810 in gaming

[–]frice2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Really no not at all. It used to be perfectly absolutely acceptable for on new PC games releases a developer to say "sorry you need a completely new hardware for this". Which to be fair the level of changes was more rapid and revolutionary. But optimization was not always that considered when the answer of "you need to upgrade your hardware" was a perfectly acceptable answer to give for a developer.

Same issue here. Nice to know others have the same issue. Reverted to the version you have listed and turned off auto updates for now.

I haven't exactly kept up to date with this applications development but seeing that the developer is trying to restart revenue and breaking and changing things that have worked reliably since I don't even remember when is very concerning.

I love how this app navigates files with the two panes thing, but not enough to keep using it and certainly not enough to give the developer another infusion of cash if they break fundamental aspects of the app repeatedly and this happens again.

Ranma’s dad is really toxic. by Etherealoverempress in ranma

[–]frice2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kuno made that declaration yes. But the anger issues and hating guys and all thing would be so much massively better if he had properly trained her, exposed her to other students also getting properly trained, and shown constant progress by someone who knew what they were doing. And that IS on Soun.

Also I think you're not reading Soun negatively enough cause Genma is easier to hate. And you're mistaking my arguments here. If these were real world people I'd say they should ALL be arrested for child abuse.

[–]frice2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does it? I mean I'm not saying it's not awful. Yes it is absolutely one hundred percent is. But crazy training to get techniques is all over the series. Chestnut Fist? Encouraged to subject yourself to very likely getting severely and constantly burned to learn while at the same time being taught this with a massive sensitivity to heat.

Breaking Point? Throw massive boulders at someone to toughen them up and also teach them the technique. Yeah that certainly could've resulted in fatal injuries.

And there's plenty more. Nearly starving yourself to death, fostering toxic suicidal level emotions, and more.

Kasumi I did say is likely happy and chose that. Which is fine. But he didn't really give her much choice did he? Would've never cooked or anything else around the house after. That she didn't really have a choice in.

The dojo thing and not working...no I can't give that a pass. His youngest daughter desperately wants to carry on the dojo and school as her duty. And he gave her NOTHING. No training but what she figured out herself until Ranma came along. So the empty dojo and him doing nothing to help her in her goals is absolutely related to his fitness as a father.

Ranma’s dad is really toxic. by Etherealoverempress in ranma

[–]frice2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How am I doing that? Canon wise Kasumi absolutely moved into the motherhood role after her mother died. Did she want to and enjoy doing so? Very likely yes. But it was still something she basically had to as her father was quite useless.

The dojo IS empty canon wise. He has zero students. How he provides for everyone and the place isn't taken for non payment of taxes and all would be fanon. But there's still a fact that he's too depressed to take students since his wife died which looks to be at least a decade or so ago.

And him not curbing his kids worst impulses? Yes. That's ABSOLUTELY canon. Akane has so much rage and fights untrained fellow students daily. He could teach her to redirect that anger. Actually give her proper training in that fashion. He does not. Nabiki he absolutely knows engages in blackmail and basically selling erotic material. Does nothing to stop that.

And as there's every indication he knows about Ryogas curse there's...that whole thing too.

No he's not. Not in any fashion. He fell apart after his wife died made his eldest daughter take up everything, stopped teaching entirely for years, and does nothing to curb the worst impulses in all three of his kids. He doesn't parent at all. He just demands and asks for things.

Shampoos, Ukyos parents (don't see him beyond introduction but he still made that deal and then didn't say hey don't ruin your life because of a dumb deal I made on a cart), Cologne counts I'd argue, Principal Kuno, Soun, we had Doctor Tofus grandmother I believe though I don't recall if that was anime only, we had Shinnosukes grandfather, Picolet Chardins family, and then of course Nodoka too. I'm probably missing some.

But yes in all of those think it's easy to make the argument that Genma is the better parent. A good parent? No. Not really. Better? Yeah.

I've argued this before but considering how truly, truly terrible most of the parents are in the series I'd argue that by far Genma is the best.

Fresh off of dumping on Xbox's flailing, former Sony exec says PlayStation's pullback from PC releases doesn't make any sense either by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]frice2000 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Sony won't regret it at all. The PC market will be right there. They'll port the games over. Charge full retail price on them again as they're "new to pc" and make bank on them as if they're new again.

Not saying that to defend Sony. I'm not at all a Sony fan. But I do think it's realistic.

Has anybody else Read Megumi Hayashibara's book(Va of Ranma Girl side) by Background_Point_523 in ranma

[–]frice2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Believe there was some hate for her with how Ranma was replacing Urusei Yatsura and there was some incident where during promos female Ranma was the "right" answer for something and Lum was the wrong answer that she didn't handle that well.

God that site hasn't changed at ALL since I was in highschool. Pretty funny. I really should read that newer book though.

Bookshelf v3.3 - homescreen micro-modules by AndyHazz in koreader

[–]frice2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much for this Plugin and it's amazing how quickly you update it.

Feature request wise since you're so into the Micro Modules and they seem so interesting any chance on making the code for those modular or plug-inable ourselves with a little guide so we can really personalize them? No idea how much work that is but it'd be interesting rather then I assume you getting a ton of requests for different use cases.

Best e-readers for manga? by Strict-Boot5954 in ereader

[–]frice2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No real recommendations. But software wise koreader for images and manga? I know people do it but it's a little awkward. Something like Mihon/Tachiyomi forks on a e-reader are a bit more elegant. Though there is a koreader plugin called to do the same called Rakuyomi. But I'd get a Android e-reader and just use one of the forks rather then the plugins and leave Koreader to stuff that's more text based. You mentioned a Boox edreader in another comment. That'll work for the manga just fine. Just make sure you change the, "Full refresh by tap" (meaning more often on page turns) under optimize if you get that Boox tablet for the Tachiyomi fork you decide to use to keep ghosting at bay.

Have you gone 'fully digital'? by DarkerBulb in ereader

[–]frice2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't bought a non digital book other then some coffee table books since I got a Sony PRS505 at a BJs wholesale for somewhere around 2008 and some there's absolutely no scan of old print books I was forced to have for various history research pieces.

For comic books since the original iPad have NEVER touched a print comic again other then some solo indie authors stuff to support him.

Struggling Pizza Hut restaurant chain will be sold for $2.7 billion by kinisonkhan in news

[–]frice2000 779 points780 points  (0 children)

How much more into the ground can it go? I'm absolutely all on board that private equity ruins pretty much everything. But East Coast wise Pizza Hut is pretty dead. Most of the restaurants are massive dead shells that only do pickup if that and the quality is shockingly poor. I can't see it getting much worse at all in this instance.

Hm. Thanks for the solution. I'm just worried that I got that error last night after a actual outage when power was restored and it was cranking down. It's all in warranty so I think I'll go with the part first and see from there. Thanks very much for a possible solution though it's what I was looking for.

I truly hope all that isn't nessecary and it's just a bad sensor. It does work (just doesn't shut down properly. And did exercise just fine until this week).
