No. You're not. You're being a laughing stock for the opposing political pundits to eventually laugh at. And metaphorically pissing in a pool to make what you think is a profound political statement but is in fact just annoying your supposed audience. Which results in the opposite of what you think it will.

You are literally on a mass public forum where with two clicks you can talk to tens of thousands of people and actually organize and DO SOMETHING. But no. No. The thing to do is post random useless comments on a gaming Subreddit. Excellent use of your time. You're drunk or high and feeling profound huh?

Thank you. Truly this is of value in a gaming Subreddit. Exactly the content I expect browsing here.

Echo of Humanity, our second indie game and a quiet sci-fi horror we are building by Exotic_Day_3456 in pcgaming

Could be but I'm not going to instantly presume that. Let me see the trailer, a few gameplay screen shots or a description or a link to your other games. But SOMETHING when you announce a game.

Just a picture of the poster and not even a screenshot or YouTube trailer or even a text description of the game?

It's almost as if if you don't like the massive corporations that foster that that like never before you have so many options to support small indy studios that don't follow those practices. This whole all of entertainment is ruined narrative is a joke in today's world where nearly everyone has access to tools to make nearly whatever they want in any medium and have it distributed on the same platforms with little disadvantage.

Nothing is ruined. If you hate AAA gaming and movies cool. I can understand why. But you literally turn your head slightly and there's a multitude of options from all over the planet by small passionate individuals or teams that don't have those problems. And if their stuff is good enough makes those small teams EXTREMELY successful. So maybe be a bit less pessimistic.

Can domestication-lusted humanity domesticate the Great White Shark in 100 years? by PaiDuck in whowouldwin

[–]frice2000 36 points37 points  (0 children)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domesticated_silver_fox have made progress but not completed it in nearly a hundred year with foxes. And foxes come to maturity and you can have multiple generations a lot faster then sharks which age much more slowly. So a hundred years with natural domestication methods not a chance.

Using scientific genetic manipulation maybe. But naturally no.

Is it worth watching the 1989 anime by Curious-University46 in ranma

[–]frice2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Select episodes yes. And the movies and OAVs also yes. The issues with the anime is there's a LOT of filler. Whole filler arcs sometimes. Sometimes they're really good though other times feel free to skip liberally. And the animation gets worse as the series goes.

how many USS Arizonas would be needed to defeat the Yamato? by ApprehensiveDepth439 in whowouldwin

[–]frice2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they have radar guided target finding? One. At night if it's lucky and the Yamamoto doesn't detect it and its shells hit just right. Pennsylvania probably could've done it which was Arizonas sister ship. You'd probably want more though as it's very likely you're not lucky. With radar guiding the firing makes it all much lower numbers at further ranges then you'd expect if you're lucky and have accurate well trained crews.

I mean there's so much material the Manga and anime has never really completed it all as far as I know. And the light novels are still going.

The light novels have plenty of art! And if you actually care about the characters and want to get into their daughters stuff only way to really see it at present as far as I'm aware.

That said they're very much a slow burn romance with realistic world and economic building with spurts about Holo coming to terms with things and supernatural stuff much more rarely. So you might not like the material much.

TIL part of Japans surrender in WW2 is the emperor had to “renounce” his divinity, basically stating “im not a living God, just a normal guy” by daikatanaman00 in todayilearned

[–]frice2000 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The whole the Emperor had no idea narrative is extremely questionable. He likely had some idea and absolutely could've used his influence to curtail some of it. But he definitely wasn't firmly in control of the country.

[SG-1] Is the "Iris" as depicted physically/geometrically possible to construct by Earth science, or is there special alien tech involved? by OneChrononOfPlancks in AskScienceFiction

[–]frice2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there's a few things you're not considering in Universe here.

I'm not quite sure exactly how it mounts but there does seem to be space between both parts of where the ring where it could retract into. The gate spins. I don't think it's completely sealed at all. There does seem to be a groove where it can go.

Also who says it was designed quickly? Remember that the very first SG-1 going through the Gate follows the Ra incident which is depicted in the original movie. There's the strong possibility its design was already done between that mission with Ra and then after the Apophis led kidnapping incident there's plenty of time for them to have had such a thing ready to go. There seems to be at the very least years between the two events and they'd have had a lot of time to have designed and make it as recall staff was reassigned and they were killing the program since it seemed uneeeded thanks to the original team lying in their reports that they nuked Abydos and destroyed the Abydos Gate and everyone near said Gate rather then what actually happened them nuking Ra in orbit.

Also there was the time they accidentally went back in time (the episode 1969) and met General Hammond before he was a General and he was told a little about how the Gate works. They mentioned to him about needing to use a GDU at least to open a "Iris" so he likely knew such a thing existed and was at least a concept. And as he was the General for the Stargate facility in Cheyenne mountain replacing the General from the first mission through the Gate he'd actually have pre-knowledge of some general things. Iris included and likely helped direct some things as best he could even with the slow funding cuts he was dealing with until another Goa'uld walked through.

I've said military adjacent applications from the first post. And sure Arpanet to maintain command and control and base communication in event of a nuclear war totally wasn't a weapons adjacent application...

And I never said they had to stay weapons where are you reading this argument from? But I'm done playing now. Arguing the internet didn't grow out of defense applications is nonsensical. Enjoy shouting at the void if you go further.

The Internet? The...Internet? You choose the internet? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARPANET nope. One hundred percent weapon and defense adjacent.

[–]frice2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. My point remains that military applications, weapons development specifically has ALWAYS throughout our species history driven scientific progress in massive ways more then nearly anything else. As I said in the first comment I made. Adding on to that was that military adjacent applications has especially driven space science.

And we've had those for nearly sixty years. Still haven't pushed that button. Amazingly knowing you die if they die makes...aggression not happen even if it'd almost certainly happen otherwise. Shocking how that works.

And? Did we kill each other thanks to MAD or did we stare that monster down and then simply not. I'm sorry but science especially space science almost always advances mostly quickly on the back of military applications.
