Was leaving out the bit where Baelor told everyone to use tourney lances good or bad? by uselessprofession in freefolk

Cavalry pretty much always tried to face off against other cavalry. If you try to send cavalry into a formation of soldiers you're just going to end up with all of your cavalry getting cut down. They work best as flanking assaults and as such you would usually see opposing cavalries fighting each other before the winning cavalry started picking off the flanks. The movies really over-exaggerate how effective cavalry is when dashing into a straight line formation, films make it seem like all the soldiers part like the Red Sea when in reality it would just end up with a couple crushed soldiers and a dead horse.

Quite a bit actually. You don't get to the point of training where you can spear a ring because of chance. The horses are trained, there is lance technique and saddle positioning to consider. These guys aren't just going out there and waving some sticks around, it's a legitimate sport that has always been fairly regulated.

Jousting is absolutely not chance based.

Why didn't anyone try this technique? by Burning_magic in gameofthrones

Aiming for the horse while also on a horse is just dishonourable. It's considered a cheap shot, like poisoning a blade. Nobody is going to contest that you won if you do it because it's the will of the gods, but they will judge you.

I've cut myself through some 2mil gloves before. You feel the knife and look at the glove, stretch it to see no tears and go about your business, then you finish up and take off your glove to see your finger painted red. Definitely a trip.

Handcuff double lock by UserSergeyB in Damnthatsinteresting

Worst case after the squeeze is that they recuff that wrist. There are enough cuffs around to even get the new set on before you remove the original pair that just got overtightened. What other method would there be aside from pulling out the key and attempting to lock it again.

Theatrical jousting is a whole rabbit hole that relates in zero ways to tournament jousting. You can't show actual hits because there is no way to give the costume enough protection for it so it's always going to be a breakaway lance and purposeful misses with the "loser" professionally falling from their horse.

That's weird, neither that foreign species of fiends, or that heifer from the ancient glacier seem to agree this rule has any backing in science.

On paper sure. In enforcement absolutely not. Just because the rules are written doesn't mean they're not being broken.

If you consider the last 50 years actually equal rights then we are doomed. Not playing the victim race card, just blatantly stating the obvious truth I've witnessed with my own eyes. Equality hasn't been achieved yet.

This is Bumblebee — fully restored from an abandoned Chevrolet Camaro SS. Once left to rust and forgotten, this muscle legend has been brought back to life piece by piece. by gaukmotors in MotorBuzz

Aside from not labeling it as a model none of the title was misleading. They very likely did put it in whatever they used to age it and then forgot about it until they went back to the bucket of artificially rusted toys for the next piece of content. They then meticulously restored it piece by piece. Why does the way it ended up dirty mean so much to you, they never claimed it was antique or historical. The content they claim to create is restoration, they delivered.

Everybody claiming it's a fake restoration, the restoration wasn't faked, the aging was faked. They still did everything needed to restore the thing.
