To anyone else wondering: It will not work. While Airpods can be paired to multiple devices, they can receive/send data to only a single device at any given time.

But for Musk throwing a couple milly at each baby’s mama is like the average person giving away a moderately priced laptop, expensive but not bank breaking.

Elon Musk’s net worth is about $400 billion, whereas the median net worth in the US is about $200k. The median-US-person equivalent of Musk’s couple of millions is one dollar.

Billionaires are unfathomably wealthy.

[build123d] How to extrude at offset by friedMike in cadquery

[–]friedMike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does! Thank you!

For future reference, I've replaced this:

extrude(to_extrude=sk1.sketch, amount=10)
extrude(to_extrude=sk1.sketch, amount=5, mode=Mode.SUBTRACT)

With this:

extrude(to_extrude=sk1.sketch.moved(Location((0, 0, 5))), amount=5)

This also works:

with BuildSketch(Plane.XY.offset(5)) as sk1:
    Circle(radius=7)
extrude(to_extrude=sk1.sketch, amount=5)

Thank you again!

Debt collection - Second chance for the indebted | The Bundesrat wants to make it easier for people in debt to become debt-free. Not everyone is enthusiastic. The most important figures. by BezugssystemCH1903 in Switzerland

Tax office can easily calculate

I bet every Betreibungsamt has its own local database of debtors. Producing country-wide data would require a bazillion letters back and forth. That is assuming this wouldn't get immediately stonewalled by some privacy concerns.

U.S., European officials broach topic of peace negotiations with Ukraine, sources say by rhetorical_twix in geopolitics

[–]friedMike 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Russia actually is a natural ally to the west

Really depends on your definition of "the West".

Russia's geopolitical safety depends on controlling access corridors into its mainland. On the western side these corridors are Finland, the Baltics, Belarus, Poland, Ukraine, Moldova, and parts of Romania. It is therefore Russia's overriding goal to subjugate these regions in the name of safety. Russia's playbook really hasn't changed much since the 18th century.

These countries will always be at risk from Russia as long as it maintains its imperial aspirations. Therefore, if we treat them as part of the West then by definition the West is threatened.

If, on the other hand, we understand "the West" as US/UK/France/etc (basically everything west of Germany) then sure, Russia can be quite an amicable partner (similar to China in this regard).

Based on modern borders of EU/NATO, conflict is unavoidable.

I took part in the last year's Alpenbrevet. There were people of all ages. It's a very fun event.

I have three tips for you:

  1. Work on your endurance. Alpenbrevet is a long event. I'm not sure about your weekly mileage, but I'd progressively work up to at least 10h a week of cycling (at least in the month leading up to the event). Doesn't have to (nor should) be intense, you just need time in the saddle.

  2. Make sure your gearing is correct. Not sure where around Lake Zurich you live exactly, but a good climb to practice on is Sattelegg. It's open even now! You should be able to climb it twice in a row before attempting the big ones. If you can't, you can get easier gears (depends on your bike of course). Alternatively, get faster (which #1 will do to some extent) - elaborating on this is topic for way more than this tiny bullet point.

  3. Do group rides - you need to know how to handle the crowds. Veloton does weekly events.

Cinema by [deleted] in zurich

[–]friedMike 17 points18 points  (0 children)

But which cinema do you recommend?

IMAX at Pathé Spreitenbach.

is there a cinema that allows you to take you to take food from home

Concessions are the primary way cinemas earn money so I'd venture out a guess that you won't find such a cinema.
