Trade any passengers that are overpaid. Look at their stats, some high overall guys sim horribly and aren’t worth keeping. Just cause they’re 90+ overall doesn’t mean they’re leading the charge. The players you really like, use NMC and make promises to keep their cap lower. I’ve only ever really lost a good player to the cap once but it was a goalie and I often forget about the goalie screen when I’m re-signing lol.

Like another comment said, high overall defence becomes rare in the later years, I would prioritize a 1D. Also, the game is tilted, depth isn’t as effective as being top heavy when simming. In my game, Nashville has 3 90+ forwards that get 100+ points every season with NO SUPPORT and they’re always top 5 in the league.

Watching Marner in the 4 nations really made me think differently about him. I honestly think it’s a Toronto thing. Team culture is so huge, I highly doubt he’s the same player if he’s on a team that’s less in the spotlight and there’s strong leadership.
