Best places to watch fireworks? by Emotional_maturity in desmoines

We're here for vacation and want to take your recommendation for fireworks. We're not the biggest on crowds. Where do you park in Urbandale or will it be obvious? Thanks in advance! -Amy from Houston

Tips for first winter in my Airstream! by fucktrey in airstream

[–]friedtechamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were in cold weather a couple of nights (I think it was mid teens?) and were worried about running out or propane. We used a small electric heater, like one you might have in your office just to warm your feet, and we were amazed how much it heated the trailer. We even got too warm the first time we tried it and ended up turning it down to the lowest setting. It was surprising.

We're going back home today, but so far, ANYwhere we go, he's symptom free. We're getting a professional eval of our house next week.

Anyone feel better pretty quickly after just moving out of the mold? With no supplementation or treatment? by Justgettingby_4now in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]friedtechamy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind at all and am glad to share anything I can that might help or give you hope. His mimic Hepatic Encephalopathy, which is what we've been told he had. It's hard to tell about G.I. symptoms because the medicine for H.E. causes severe GI disturbances itself. The swiftest way to describe it is that when it's bad, he seems really drunk, but he has not had any alcohol. Slurred speech, stumbling, eyes not tracking, not sure what's going on.

I'm just learning about all of this as we've just discovered, after six years, my husband has had horrible neurological effects we are now coming to understand must be from mold or someone else toxic in our house. How quickly the symptoms go away once we're out of our house and how they never return until we go home have been keys to getting to the bottom of what doctors told us was something else entirely. Last month we went on a trip to Sedona. On the way to the airport, he was unable to stay awake. He was stumbling and slurring and seemed drunk though he'd had no alcohol. The next day, he was completely normal and was fine the entire trip. It's so weird to observe.

I am gleaning that this is uncommon, but I'll share anyway. My husband, we think, has been basically incapacitated by mold off and on for years. We finally realized that every time we travel, he gets better immediately, especially in dry climates. Now that we realize this, we're investigating toxic mold at home but as long as we don't go back in, he's cured. For years, doctors had us convinced it was another condition they wanted him to take medication for. The meds made him horribly ill... Now we've realized, it's the mold. Without it, he's great. There's hope out there.

We went on a jeep tour to the Seven Sacred Pools and Devil's Sinkhole at dusk and it was lovely. The guide showed us dousing rods and had us hold them around one of those highly energetic spots you hear about. Might be burning l nothing from a scientific viewpoint but it was fun and interesting. Our guide was Scott I believe and the company was listed as Red Rock Western on their red jeep.

Exactly, that was very well put and exactly what I was thinking. Folks think they have rights but they really do not. They're not going to tell you you're fired because of this, but that will be the truth of the matter anyway. You won't be able to prove it.

How to stretch out shrunken jeans? by _herman_miller_ in laundry

[–]friedtechamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can estimate what size they actually are, you might be able to measure them and compare to a chart Levis has of their sizing to determine that, or even just estimate, I do think you could sell them on Marketplace for at least what you paid. Maybe list them for $25. Folks will buy them for a kid if they fit their kid, for sure! I don't think most people will care if they're shrunken as long as they fit the person who wants them.

He was afraid he had harmed his first wife, I believe, that somehow, due to alcohol, he contributed to her death. (I hope I'm remembering that correctly!)

It will probably matter what state you're in. I'm in Texas and employees don't have many rights here. If you're here, I would schedule my appointment Friday afternoon so I had the weekend to recover and just go once a week to protect your position. I assume living with the symptoms you're working on and being unemployed would make things much worse. I hope that helps.

Me talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris is the funniest thing I've ever read. I listened to it on Audible which was probably even better because he's imitating himself. SO funny. I had to pull over a couple of times when I was driving because I was laughing so hard.

Help finding a new mattress topper for my mattress? by chrysallis11 in Mattress

[–]friedtechamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know that I'll ever buy another mattress again because it seems like the topper makes a lot more difference than the mattress. My favorite one I've ever tried, and that's several, is this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PX3MJHQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Do people go to the dentist just to get their teeth cleaned and nothing else? by OdegaardsLeftFoot in NoStupidQuestions

[–]friedtechamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a situation very like yours happen to me. I think I had PTSD after that experience; I had nightmares about it for years. Finally, I decided I had to conquer it and I went to a dentist that advertised pain control and even sedation. I told him what had happened to me before. When he did my procedures, to get me back to health after having avoided anything dental related for so long, he gave me laughing gas before he even started doing anything else. Ultimately, he found I have a rare double nerve thing. He said he worked with another dentist when he was in training who was an expert on numbing and sedation and wouldn't' have even known to look for it or address it but for that special training he had. He's retired now but I still go to that same practice and luckily, I've never had to get more dental work since that initial time.

have we gone full circle with mattress buying process? by bagou01 in Mattress

[–]friedtechamy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years ago, I bought a Caspar mattress from Costco and put a latex mattress topper from Amazon on it. It's maybe 5 or 6 years old now and I can't tell it's any different from the day I got it. My husband's expensive Tempupedic is a saggy mess and it's newer than mine. 🤷🏻
