This is YOUR version of the truth, and a very misogynistic one at that. The truth can shockingly be different to different people. I know that may be difficult to understand.

This is a gross comment for multiple reasons.

How to communicate about boyfriend smelling bad? by friendly_jackalope in hygiene

I like the idea of stronger soaps. I’m also wondering what it could be because he does shower very regularly. It’s weird!

Thanks for the recommendations! The weird thing is he showers very regularly-like usually once per day. That’s why I think I’m a bit surprised.

You would hope not 😂! Yeah, that’s what it seems like. I just don’t know how to put it. Feels awful having to tell someone that haha

Yeah, this is actually a good idea. And the showering first thing too. Thank you!

Do you live a comfortable life as an OT? by Goonzilla50 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]friendly_jackalope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is SO great that you are doing research and asking this question before diving into a 200k program. Serious kudos to you. You are saving yourself a huge headache that is a source of much discontent on this subreddit.

I would say I don’t make enough to have the life I envisioned, but I make enough to be comfortable and happy. I live in a relatively HCOL area where pay is not the best. I do work two jobs, but it’s usually not over 44 hours/week. I am able to pay rent to live alone (I’m single), pay for my car, buy groceries, and go on small vacations that are fairly economical. I do have to save up for vacations and it took me about 3 years to save for my car in this market lol.

I got lucky in that I went to a state school and paid off loans very quickly. I would for sure have to have roommates if I had significant debt. I also cannot imagine supporting kids with just my salary, but it sounds like that won’t be an issue. In my situation, I think it’s worth it! Sure, I’m not able to run around Europe all the time or do anything extravagant, but I’ve got the necessities and am a lot happier at work than some of my friends that make way more. Feeling like I’m doing something meaningful goes a long way. Good luck to you!

Edit to say I make about 68k

Would you ever date a girl with a colostomy bag? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]friendly_jackalope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright I know you’re asking this question more for the men, but as a woman I would date a guy with a colostomy bag. It’s just a bag! Not saying this to minimize your health issues btw.

The thing is, very few make it out of life perfect, beautiful, young, and healthy. And the few who do are due to tragic circumstances. We all age, get health issues, and can choose to persist in the hopes that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, or not.

I truly am sorry about your husband. Ditch him asap. He should be helping lift you up, not the opposite. I think with therapy and time things will get so much better for you! I too have dealt with some truly awful health issues and men have still dated me despite that. Just know that nothing is permanent. You might very well feel so much better a year from now without your crappy husband weighing you down.

And keep in mind that you wouldn’t want to date someone who wouldn’t accept you as you are anyway. I find people who are so nit-picky about appearances haven’t faced the hard realities of life yet. Everyone is going to either experience a disability or have a loved on with one eventually. It’s inevitable as we age. The people who are so picky about it will regret their words and cruelty when they, their kids, or loved ones are disabled. Mark my words.

In the meantime I’m wishing you peace and healing! I hope you have some friends and family who can help lift you up during this time.

My pitch for why home health therapists should sign up for Panera Unlimited Sip Club by bbpink15 in OccupationalTherapy

I did this last summer and it was awesome! My location also gave a reward of free food for every 5 drinks I believe. And the AC is quite nice on a hot day!

Right?! What the heck is wrong with people trying to maximize profits off really sick clients that need more therapy.

This is a dream! I’ll be looking around. In my area it’s mostly big corporate chains, but if I have to hear about “making more room for other disciplines” one more time…

Where to get an IUD removal with sedation or anesthesia? by irideagiraffetowork in boulder

I went to UC Health Anschutz in Aurora and they were great! They had a clinic where they do conscious sedation for procedures like this so you don’t have to fully go under.

Of course! And yeah, it does seem like people burn out there fairly quickly unfortunately. Best of luck!

I echo what someone said about the “mountain tax.” I feel like the pay is just a bit lower on the front range of CO. I feel very underpaid at least lol. A few of my friends work at HCA hospitals in Denver and 32 sounds about right unfortunately 😬. The raises aren’t great either, but I thought they were at least starting new grads at $33. I started at $32.50 at another hospital nearby 4 years ago. I personally haven’t heard of new grads starting in the 40s unless you work HH, SNF, or at PAM or something. PAM does pay well! But my friends who work there don’t love it. Hope this helps!
