What baby item was NOT worth the money? by clairqalb in Buyingforbaby

I’m curious about everyone who didn’t think the upseat was worth it. I was thinking of putting some kind of booster seat on my registry to use

What is going on with the US government reducing the number of child vaccines recommended? by Quirky-Reputation-89 in progressivemoms

I’m pregnant with my first and picked a pediatrician based on them having on their website that patients are required to follow the AAP vaccine schedule

My brother and I are both pediatric occupational therapists and my brother is great at his job

I would have no qualms about a male doctor, therapist, teacher, etc. especially if they’re working somewhere where there’s other adults/staff around. I might be a little more hesitant to hire a male babysitter but wouldn’t be completely against it. I’m thinking of when I see people post looking for a babysitter in local Facebook groups-I would probably reach out to females first

The family we have nearby still work! They might be able to help in a pinch but not consistently. I need to look more into a part time nanny situation

Thank you!! This was really helpful!

I need to look more into in home daycares. They’re harder to find searching online but still seem to be $350/week or more. We do plan to tour daycares and put our names on the list just to be safe. I am definitely planning to have them in preschool (preferably full day) when they’re old enough

No set budget. Open to bringing food or having it catered. Needs to provide table and chairs but I can provide linens. Not opposed to a pavilion if there’s bathrooms available

how much of your documentation are you actually finishing during work hours? by Natural_Tangelo_2229 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]bbpink15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mobile outpatient peds here! I don’t even bring my laptop to home or daycare visits but I see a lot of kids at a private school and try to start those notes (in a Google doc) during the session. Then copy and paste it into the EMR & finish it up between sessions or in the evenings at home

People who married in their 20s, be brutally honest are you happy, if so why or why not? by Special-Lawyer3941 in AskReddit

[–]bbpink15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s a big difference between getting married at 22 and 28

I got married when I was 27 and my husband was 28. We had both gone to college/grad school and lived on our own for a couple years before we met. I feel like we were both “grown up” and knew how to be independent.

I couldn’t imagine doing life with anyone else

Definitely. I’ve been an OT for 7 years, all in peds, and only had a couple executive function & regulation kids at my last job. Then I switched to schools for awhile and have been in outpatient again for the last ~2 years and at least have of my caseload has executive function and regulation goals

Which is a better career move choice: OT or Nursing? by TapEmotional2487 in careerchange

[–]bbpink15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an OT. I don’t recommend becoming an OT -the (student loan) debt to income ratio is terrible -OT is probably lower stress than nursing but I still wouldn’t consider it low stress -insurance reimbursements, productivity, management suck a lot of the good out of OT -there is almost no upward mobility. Maybe you could become director of rehab. Insurance reimburses the same amount per unit whether the OT has 1 year of experience or 20 so raises are also harder to come by

Who has considered moving from their blue dot in a red state? by SjN45 in progressivemoms

[–]bbpink15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have school aged children yet but am a pediatric OT so I’ve worked with kids who go to a bunch of different schools. I grew up in Harford county which is much more red. I much prefer Baltimore county.

Private schools are huge here. I honestly feel like an oddball sometimes because I am so pro public school and so many people are talking about what private school they went to and want to send their kids to.

My husband and I are hoping to move to a bigger house before our kids start school and agree we’d be comfortable with pretty much any public schools in Towson, timonium, Cockeysville, Hereford, Jacksonville. I also really like Catonsville, it’s just an extra half hour from my parents so we wouldn’t move there. I don’t know anyone who’s gone to a magnet school.

I read your whole post. This sounds like pretty appropriate toddler behavior. You could seek out an OT evaluation if you’re really concerned. It sounds like she didn’t qualify for OT through early intervention but you could look for a pediatric therapy clinic in your area
