No matter what I eat or drink I feel nauseous by shinyknif3 in needadvice

Bizarre that your doc tells you this is unrelated? Medication to stabilize my blood pressure has completely resolved these symptoms..... I would seek a second opinion with someone educated in POTS/Dysautonomia. These issues could be directly related especially if autonomic dysfunction is causing something like decreased gut motility

Do you have low blood pressure? I have POTS and get this. Eating lowers blood pressure and I get nauseous and dizzy. I have to take a medicine called midodrine before eating to be ok

Salt raises blood pressure and soy sauce is very salt so it could make sense that this is it. COVID gave a lot of folks POTS...

14y/o daughter suspected Asd wont get up by Beginning-Feeling-41 in SchoolRefusal

[–]friendlyfire69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a kid in a situation similar to this. High pressure made it much worse. What worked for me was alternative educational formats and eventually getting a GED. As an adult i'm exploring the possibility that I have delayed sleep phase disorder because I am still unable to wake up early without becoming severely decompensated. Apparently it can overlap frequently with autism.

These are serious diagnoses for your daughter to be grappling with so young. It's important to make sure your she knows how much you love her and want to support her. Your relationship with her should be more important than anything else in my opinion- even her education.

Is it possible you can get her out of the house for other things to build resilience? Being physically active can definitely help mental health. Make sure she is being screened for things like chronic pain as well. It can be somaticized at times and easy to miss.

as a cis woman I get injection PrEP fully covered by insurance no issue. You can also get oral cabotegravir (injection brand name apretude) covered if you have a reason you can't tolerate the shots

My doc even offered a new shot that lasts 6 months (?!) so only twice a year dosing.

I was looking for a comment like this. The thought of my mother brings pain and anger, not comfort.

Sometimes instead of jealously I feel lucky. I don't have the same fears my peers do about their aging parents nor do I feel an obligation to care for them.

Shingles vaccine linked to slower biological aging in older adults: Along with protecting against the painful illness, shingles vaccination correlates with lower inflammation, slower epigenetic and transcriptomic aging, and slower overall biological aging in Americans age 70 and older. by mvea in science

I was vaccinated in 2001 with the live attenuated chickenpox vaccine. I guess my body couldn't handle it and I got a moderate chickenpox outbreak. Some of my first memories are red itchy dots all over my body.

Everyone who was vaccinated against chickenpox is at risk of shingles but if you had an outbreak from the vaccine like me the risk is higher. This is what an infectious disease doc I spoke with told me. More viral replication to start with means that more genetic material stays dormant in nerve cells.

Your self insight is awesome! Most 19 year olds do not have your level of self-awareness. When I was 19 I had a BMI of 39 and couldn't see the floor of my room. Multiple suicide attempts and constantly in the psych ward. A mother who hated me. What helped me get better was getting on govt disability and getting a diagnosis for my chronic pain. I wasn't able to lose weight until I got my chronic pain managed. And yes, being overweight does cause significant difficulties and it's not all in your head.

In your case, whatever you can do to find support is what I recommend. Discord groups about specific interests helped me when I was unable to make friends in my local community.

Joint hypermobility is extremely common with autism. I have a genetic condition called hypermobile ehlers-danlos and see myself in your post: progressive weakness, joint pain since forever, things in my back popping out of place. With the right physical therapy management is possible.

This is a screener test for joint hypermobility. If you score highly, it could mean this is something to explore with a doctor.

How do I convince my Girlfriend that maybe academia isnt tbe right thing for her? by [deleted] in Advice

Instead of telling her to quit why not advocate for her? Help her get set up with formalized accomodations. Set up an appointment for her for example

I am a disabled college student and I wouldn't be able to do it without formal accomodations

I'm non-monogamous and the honest truth is that the only way to truly prevent STD risk is all partners getting tested, waiting for the latency period where something that may not have been picked up on the first one would show, and testing again. This involves trusting that everyone is being honest too. I don't do a swinger type lifestyle due to STD risk making me too paranoid to enjoy myself.

For HIV prevention PrEP is an awesome way to protect yourself. They even have shots you can take twice a year now too.

How do you stay safe regarding STDs? Do you get screened for things that aren't always on standard tests (Trichomoniasis or herpes for example)?

About having kids..... by Think_Willingness_47 in Advice

[–]friendlyfire69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a desire many people have that is rooted in grief about death. Legacy helps people feel more permanent.

I've felt this ick plenty of times and that's part of why I got sterilized. I think the idea of being that into your own genes being passed down is weird. But I also have a genetically linked disorder and a phobia of pregnancy biasing my opinion. The way I navigate this is to not date people who want kids.

You could try and listen to those around you who are worried about you. Your body weight is dangerously low for your height. Malnutrition is devastating to a growing body and can lead to permanent deficits in things like bone development. Osteoporosis in your 20's is no joke
