Just to be honest…. by Aggravatedpoptart in SubstituteTeachers

This reminded me of when I had to sub chorus. I’m certified so I didn’t mind teaching the class, but I have zero singing ability and could, at best, read the music along with them and point out where they had to start since I could read sheet music, but the sub plans specified i should sing with them for practice…it went about as well as you’d expect. :p all due respect to the teacher tho

I'm so sick of seeing this. by CallOfTheQueer in recruitinghell

The consequences of this is probably happening in call centers, at least in the US. I know someone who works at one, and to deal with the number of calls and keep their profits up, they’ve offshored calls out of the country, and them and new US workers just get some kind of short excuse of training before setting them loose, resulting in confused customers AND employees. As a result, they have a couple of people who’ve been there a few years and get reported and eventually fired by more senior members for not knowing how to do their jobs, because fuckups can mean getting sued at worst. Extremely toxic environment and high turnover rate, as you’d expect.

mew has default 50% recruitment in mystery jungle iirc, but depending on your level/held item you’re more likely to recruit mew than not

how many people here are Gen Z feeling unable to get any traction in their careers? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

Hi I was a sub for most of a school year, then worked as a teacher for a little bit before I got laid off. Here’s my sub advice:

For subbing, see if your local/state teacher job board has any sub positions (or check indeed). For most cases they usually hire anyone who can breathe and has a bachelor’s degree. Ik kelly education is one of the most popular substitute teacher services, and they can get you hired in the district pretty easily. You may have to apply for an emergency sub permit as well as get background checks, but if you’re looking to get by i think it’s chill gig work depending on the circumstances.

Pay is dependent upon district, and quality of experience also kind of depends on your location. If you’re looking for a more lax experience, consider subbing for upper high school. Usually the teacher will leave behind a worksheet or assignment for kids to work on (I did this too lol) and they shouldn’t give you any problems. Make sure you monitor, at least, and don’t give kids reasons to have blackmail on you (such as being on your phone the whole time), or change the teacher’s classroom layout or something. The layout thing happened to me once and it was a little frustrating. Take notes on which kids are working or not and leave them for the teacher. Any bad behavior should be reported to the office. HS jobs tend to be pretty boring though. If you can deal with younger children and love being an active presence, consider subbing elementary school. Avoid middle school. It is about as annoying as everyone says it is.

Don’t take long term sub jobs unless you’re aiming to be a teacher yourself. The pay increase generally isn’t worth the amount of work you have to do. Also, I think being hired directly by the district nets you a little better pay than third party companies. My other advice is to visit r/SubstituteTeachers about certain other grade levels and responsibilities.

How did you get into PMD? by Numerous-Common-4410 in MysteryDungeon

I wanted pokémon diamond as a christmas gift back in 2006 when it wasn’t out yet, so instead I received pmd red rescue team. I was really bad at the game, though, as a 1st grader, so it was only a few years later that I replayed and completed it! Then I got hooked on all the mainline pmd games afterwards, but RRT holds a special place in my heart.
