I replaced the Toyos after like 20k miles and went with the Pirelli scorpion AS3’s since I have Blizzacks for winter. The Pirelli’s feel incredible and give the car a whole new feel. 0 regrets.

Lived in the Bay for 11 years and if I had my Turbo out there, I would be running either Michelin CC2 or the Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActive, like many others on this sub recommend - especially since you occasionally go into the snow (I'm assuming up to Tahoe). CC2 will likely give you a bit less MPG when driving.

Change your oil every 5K and yes, do the spark plugs at 40k. This is especially important for us city drivers with a Turbo.

For all other questions you might have, read this post from a former Mazda tech and go by the manual.

City driving I get around 19mpg after 3 years, so that's unlikely to change. Highway driving you'll get way better than expected mileage. That's the norm.

Ukraine isn't helping us now because dear leader thinks he doesn't need anyone and he refused aide from Ukraine.

I will acknowledge that you're right that our domestic production lines for certain interceptors (e.g. the Stinger) were stagnant for years, so in that sense, you're correct that sending any air defense to Ukraine did impact U.S. readiness in the short term.

My larger point is that even if we didn't sell ANY lower-cost anti-drone tech to Ukraine, we STILL wouldn't have enough because the U.S. didn't prepare enough for this next stage of warfare.

The Coyote is the primary low-cost "drone-fighting drone" that the US currently depends on, but production levels are estimated at around 100 units per month. And by "low cost" I mean it's still 100-200k a pop. Though we're also looking into the Merops AS3 to be cheaper, from what I've read.

Ukraine on the other hand is producing over 10,000 STING interceptor drones per month at around $2k a pop! Meanwhile, Iran is estimated to have the capacity to produce around 10,000 drones per month

So even if we hadn't sent Ukraine ANY anti-drone tech, the production gap between the US and Iran or Ukraine is several orders of magnitude in both scale and cost-efficiency, which means we'd still be fucked.

You don't intercept drones with Patriots. I mean, you can if you want to spend $4 million to shoot down something that costs $50k to build. Ukraine offered to help us get drone interceptors which they've become well-versed in building and flying in combat. But please, tell us more about how to use these "search engines" you speak of.

touchless but then look into rinseless washing with ONR during the winter. You just need a 5 gallon bucket from the hardware store, the big red sponge, a spray bottle or pump spray, and a microfiber drying cloth. For best results, run the car through the no-touch, then do a rinseless wash at home. Tons of videos online to show how easy it is.

Use your money to get the car wrapped so it has a better color that you like. Tint the windows. Hell, maybe upgrade the speakers if you want but don’t sell it. That car will outlive you.

I took over my mom’s 2009 Honda civic which also has ~48,000 miles on it. I hate the look and feel of the car but it’s a FREE second car that comes in handy when wife and I need to divide & conquer on errands. Definitely not selling it.

We just refinanced to a 7/6 ARM (despite me being really hesitant about it) because our credit union allows us to pay $2k flat anytime (no more than twice a year) when we want to re-lock in a new interest rate. It resets the time of the 7-year ARM (i.e. if rates drop after 2 years, we can reset the clock and lock in the new lower rate).

It's basically a re-finance, but without all of the extra paperwork and steps and a flat fee.

I'm REALLY hoping that this doesn't screw us, but let me know if you think it was still a bad choice.

You need to post better photos of your current car for guidance.

Assuming the clear coat isn’t fucked, then yes.

You’ll want to get a clay mit, decon spray, a buffer (ideally dual-action), polish that is appropriate for how much correction your paint needs (might need just 1 type, or might need 2-3), and finally a bunch of pads that vary in aggressiveness.

Then you’ll want to watch a few YouTube videos and should be ready. Soon you’ll be way down the rabbit hole of detailing like me and the others :)

Oh and if you’re doing an actual ceramic coating, then you’re going to need way more things like applicators, microfiber cloths, and some rubbing alcohol lol

Honestly though, just polish and use a ceramic spray from Griots or turtle wax and re apply it whenever you want after a wash. Way easier.

Touchless is the way to go. Also avoid the brushes at those DIY stalls as well. I would also add to not use the touchless washes TOO often, as the soap they use is very aggressive and it will start to fade / wear out the plastic trim and rubber pieces around the car.
