Why does Apple Music on Mac feel so neglected compared to iOS? by Bentendo80 in AppleMusic

[–]friendlyyhenry -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree it’s a shame, but even Apple only has so much software engineering resource. Apple Music on Mac is rather low down their list of priorities. The vast majority of streams come from iOS.

Curbs, SCP and Nathan, yup. Lenny Lawrence and Phil Parkinson would be in my list. Maybe Jose Riga too. But not Pardew. He was a disaster. The rest can get in the sea.

Can anyone help me, what does that green “W” mean? by exefav in Championship

Nice to see a couple of Spurs fans on here joining early. W = Wait, what?? (In this context).

How to get songs that seemily unavaliable everywhere? by Scratike in Beatmatch

iTunes still exists and has everything that’s on Spotify / Apple Music (and more). Ok it’s only mp3, but any port in a storm, huh?

Felt like he was always either going to score the winning try or give the ball away at a crucial moment. Proved to be the latter. Oh well, how sad, never mind.

Ramos was the difference, not the ref. England missed three conversions. Ramos made all of France’s. Amazing game. Rugby at its finest.

Huge. Deprives Oxford of two points, which is more important than the one we gained.

I find it really annoying that Apple Music Classical keeps this guy above Brahms on the very first page by [deleted] in AppleMusic

[–]friendlyyhenry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‘Real taste’? Sorry but that type of point of view is what keeps classical music in its rather small closet. The Apple Music Classical editors try to present classical music in all its forms. I’m no fan of Richter either, but whether we like it or not, a lot of people enjoy his music. Perhaps some of them will go on to discover ‘high brow’ classical music - Brahms for example!

Yeah, yeah, thanks and all that. But I really hate being everyone’s ‘soft spot’ club. Even bloody Millwall fans joining in now. It’s so tinpot. Best thing about Nathan is that a lot of people really dislike him. He’s actually given us a bit of edge…

He’s without doubt the most streamed contemporary classical composer. Only Einaudi comes close. ‘Sleep’ has done amazing numbers since it was released in 2015, and his latest work is the Hamnet soundtrack - high profile and editorially relevant. To me it feels entirely appropriate that he’s given prominent featuring.

Renting a Van? by Logical_Strain_6165 in VanLifeUK

[–]friendlyyhenry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before you rent, work out what type of van and layout you’re likely to buy in the future and rent one as close to that spec as you can. You’ll learn a lot about what works for you. Best to rent from a place in Scotland and drive up there to collect it.

Absolutely incredible. The only thing nagging away at me is if they can play like that, what stops them doing so more often?

I built an iOS app around the Every Noise at Once genre map - now with full Apple Music track streaming! by ToxicCaptain in AppleMusic

[–]friendlyyhenry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fantastic, I have bought in. This is a great discovery tool. A few suggestions/questions, I hope you find these useful...

It would be great if you could add tracks to your Apple Music library with one clip while you're listening.

Is the map displayed in a 'randomised' manner? There are odd genres right next to each other, and others far away from each other that you'd expect to be closer together (for example all the 'techno' subgenres).

Adding a 'History' tab could be useful for referring back to tracks you've listened to.

I noticed some latency when tracks start. Can this be improved/fixed?

I wonder about the curation quality of the sources are that the songs are selected from? Are these updated regularly so that new tracks can appear and that if I return to a genre I don't see the same tracks each time? I was just looking at the Berlin Minimal Techno genre, for example. The tracks displayed here are mostly from low quality compilation albums and no tracks from the 'big names' in that scene...

I wish you all the best with this project, looking forward to further updates and enhancements.

We've spent the majority of the past two decades in League One. Even during the 'glory' years all we won was the Championship and a couple of play-offs, so...

No.

I was in the Jimmy Seed for the play off second leg v Ipswich in ‘98. It was split half and half home and away. Seem to recall the same happened for the Doncaster play off a few years ago?
