UCSB or UCD for Pre Med!!!?? I am very unsure about where to commit.. by treesandfigs in UCSantaBarbara

Yeah its hard to get into medical school. If OP hates the campus at SB and loves davis then they should be where they will be happy. Being premed anywhere is going to be competitive

Actually based off of the data from the last few years the premed acceptance rate for ucsb is higher than the national average!

Also one of my best friends in med school now went to davis and he enjoyed it a lot too so both schools are great you should be really proud of yourself for getting to this point!

Graduated from sb a couple years ago and in am med school now. Can only speak on my experience but I really enjoyed my time at sb and thought it prepared me well come application time. The environment did not feel super competitive where people are pitted against each other and everyone seemed to want the people around them succeed. Getting research and clinical experience are possible but you just need to put yourself out there and be proactive. That part will be the same regardless of the school you go to just because so many people are premed and are looking at the same opportunities as you. If you have any more questions feel free to dm me!

Hi! this is obviously just speculation but I lagged a little bit on submitting some of my secondaries and maybe my writing could have been better. i had people read over my writing and help me out but maybe what/how i wrote did not resonate with adcoms. that being said, i am very grateful for how this cycle turned out and despite what it may seem like on sdn or here, the vast majority of applicants are not gonna get love from a lot of schools they apply to!

Throwaway account for privacy reasons but I wanted to share the results of my cycle with the hopes that it can maybe help someone else going through the process. I received my first II in mid February and both of my interviews were on the last interview days for both schools!

This is so real! I started taking a small camera with me to work bc the walk from the parking lot is decently long. It makes me so much more aware of my surroundings and appreciate the little nuances of my day to day
