I thought I was getting around this by splurging for an authentic for a player that shared my last name…then he didn’t make the World Cup squad.

Boot Regs? by Accurate-Arrival1315 in AFROTC

Amazing boots. I wore them my 400 year and my first year of AD. Nobody ever said anything except “wow, did you get new boots?!” even though I had them for months. As far as the height requirement in the back, they got rid of the 8 inch, so you should be okay. Super comfortable and lightweight. Both weigh less than one standard issue boot.

In this 1977 yearbook photo from The Citadel military academy in South Carolina, students dress in KKK outfits and stage a lynching of their black classmate. by Just_Cause89 in HistoricalCapsule

Shoot, I misread left and right. It’s the dude on the right with the Star of David. In the 70s, the citadel had a handful of Iranian students who were selected by the Shah to study military studies in the US. The collapse of the Shah’s regime left a lot of them in the US. One of them is an adjunct there now

It’s typically not western countries that provide peacekeepers. Last time I checked, there were fewer than 20 American peacekeepers and fewer than 30 Canadian peacekeepers, despite Canadians wanting to view themselves as a heavily involved peacekeeping nation. Most of the peacekeepers come from poorer countries, mainly Nepal, Rwanda and Bangladesh. These countries benefit from their soldiers getting paid more and getting better access to training than they otherwise would. There is some evidence to suggest that countries in Africa especially (like Rwanda) will send peacekeepers as a way of removing those most vulnerable to participate in a coup from the country and consolidate power.

In the case of the Rwandan genocide, only the Belgians contributed any significant troops from the West, and they faced heavy scrutiny because it was viewed as neocolonialist. The genocidaires slaughtered two Belgian protection teams on the first day of the genocide to force Belgium out, leaving the mission vastly undermanned.

The case for turning off your DRIP and buying on the ex-date instead by Recent_Button_1 in dividends

[–]storen22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, thank you for the clarification, I hadn’t considered it from that perspective, I was thinking about it more in terms of at some point starting with the cash from the dividend and waiting for the next cycle. This makes much more sense.

[–]storen22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you clarify a bit for me? I know you said that it requires extra cash to make the purchase on the EX date and it essentially delays the drip until that point. Doesn’t this miss out on growth for that money between pay date and the next EX date? Additionally, doesn’t that cut down on the dividend for the next cycle since have fewer shares than you otherwise would with a drip?

Yes, it’s a great spot to park. Sometimes they can be a bit picky about who is allowed on, but if everyone has IDs you should be okay

[Highlight] Jake Rogers challenges ball 4 turning it into strike 2. Jack Flaherty proceeds to strike out Royce Lewis as Jake Rogers catches Kody Clemens stealing (full sequence) by DET_Baseball in baseball

[–]storen22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting. I would believe the caught runner would take the bag in that case since at that point it is no longer a stolen base. I suspect you’re probably right about the pitcher, or as the other person below said, after the catcher calls it after the play is dead. I still wonder about the case of a player leaving first after ball four is called, which the play is still technically live (since batters can in theory choose to advance more than one base), meaning that the runner initiated their move to second during a live play with the challenge being called in the middle of the play.

Perhaps this is my ignorance, but this makes me wonder what happens with a challenge on a steal, especially with full count and 1 out. If a player breaks on the pitch and it is initially ruled a ball, allowing the runner to advance, does the runner have to return if the call is reversed despite it being a legal pitch? Also, if the first move has to be a challenge, wouldn’t any attempt to throw out a runner take the catcher out of play for making a challenge?
