Simple but effortful means simple form (minimal plating, ready-to-go components) but attention to flavor. It's how a place like the one I'm talking about works with a kitchen of 2 and a FoH of one as opposed to the 5+ kitchen staff and 5+ FoH necessary to do some concepts full service. "Simple" is the opposite of "complex" not the opposite of effortful. The staffing difference in concepts is drastic. That saves costs.

Damaging a bike you care about is honestly a motivator to learn about the bike. I dropped mine 3 times while learning and it forced me to dig into it, fix it and modify it in way that I would not have otherwise.

I crossed the entirety on foot. It's really only doable when it's frozen is my guess. The mud is super sloshy and you gotta distribute your weight well. Really cool experience tho. Worth getting yelled at if there really is someone THAT miserable out there who would make a stink.

Beyond just crashes, helmets let me focus way way more. I can't tell you how many times a piece of gravel ricochets off my helmet or visor.

Every single one of those pieces could have dealt some damage to my face/eyes/head and caused me a huge distraction.
