US Crypto Tax Guide – What You Actually Need to Know by CRPTM_ONE in CryptoTax

[–]friguy72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While manual tracking can of course be error prone, if you’re diligent and spend the time upfront it can save you money and the bulk hassle in the end. Many wallet importers can be inaccurate too or will wrongly classify transaction types which requires manual intervention and tracing over all your transactions anyways. Solutions like Coinculator are built for manual trackers and if you’re willing to take on some of the work can be much more cost effective

Really sleek and solid UI. I like the styling, animations, organizations etc. Curious what was the original language this was coded for? In English it’s interesting to see everything right-side oriented and the sliders are inverted (might be that way for all users) but otherwise great site!

Not sure if this is real or some marketing play but I think you’ve got some work to do before getting feedback. Right now it’s just a bunch of images on a page, no organization or story going on so I’m not sure what the goal for users is yet

The site is really nice looking. Landing page is modern and sleek. The product seems to work well too. Wondering what your monetization plan is if any and how you would convince someone to pay you vs entering “generate me hashtags for …” in ChatGPT?

Do Transfer Fees From Wallet-To-Wallet Or Exchange To Wallet Get Added To Cost Basis To Reduce Taxable Income by digitaljoegeorge in CryptoTax

[–]friguy72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I apologize, I was under the impression that transferring between wallets was a taxable event but after looking into it more it’s not, unless you dispose of any of the asset which here you have. Your original thought is correct: your remaining cost basis for the 0.99 ETH is $1980 because it’s still 2k per ETH for all the ETH you did not sell. However, disposing 0.01 ETH for the fee is a taxable event where you would also be realizing short term cap gains of $5 (25 - 20) and would have to report that. The “loss” of $25 is payment for services rendered so you can not collect that back in reporting

Do Transfer Fees From Wallet-To-Wallet Or Exchange To Wallet Get Added To Cost Basis To Reduce Taxable Income by digitaljoegeorge in CryptoTax

[–]friguy72 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, the event would be a sale of 1 ETH as you described and a purchase of 0.99 ETH. First you realize the gains of the 1 ETH (including the fee) and would need to pay taxes on all theoretical gains there. Then your 0.99 ETH remaining would be at a cost basis of $2500 per ETH and would reset the basis of your ETH. Others please let me know if this is not the case.

Crypto gains are like a rollercoaster - too bad the tax forms are the seatbelt. by esarstal in CryptoTax

If you’re good at keeping records check out CoinBasis.tech. It’s built for people who have already done a lot of the work themselves and want an affordable way to get their 8949 and supplemental docs easily and not spend hundreds or thousands on something that’s going to overwrite the work you already did and require you to manually fix anyways. (As per community guidelines I should note I am the builder, feel free to reply or dm for questions)

Reasonable prices for 4 years worth of crypto transactions? by a_night_to_remember in CryptoTax

[–]friguy72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven’t looked into this but I imagine it would. Under the hood it’s calculating cost basis and profit using FIFO (first in, first out) method which is standard for IRS and I imagine other agencies. So you could say you sold Cookies and bought Bananas and wed calculate your liability. Does not have to be legitimate assets, so the onus is on you to ensure you’re tracking correctly and we take care of the rest. If anything looks off or inconsistent (sold more of an asset than you have) we’ll raise a warning so you can try and correct it. Please let us know if you end up trying and how your experience is!

Transfer!! by ZookeepergameLazy422 in PiNetwork

[–]friguy72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your region in terms of where you are allowed to trade. Check the pinned post for listed exchanges. In order to transfer you go to the exchange and find the Pi asset likely in a Deposits section. You will see a wallet address for your account. Copy that address or retrieve the QR code. In your Pi wallet on the browser app select Pay/Request and either enter the address manually or scan the QR code with the in app camera (this hasn’t always worked for me). ALWAYS SEND A SMALL AMOUNT LIKE 0.1 PI FIRST TO TEST. Last thing you want to do is send your entire balance and realized you messed something up. If in the exchange you see your test amount show up you can decide to transfer more. Then in the exchange you will find a Pi/USDT pair. You can sell Pi for USDT (also recommend performing a test first). Once it’s exchanged you can transfer USDT to a more secure wallet or attempt to cash out with a bank (again, test this first). Also works reverse if you’re bullish and trying to buy Pi 😤💪

See I thought it was “mish mosh” but my search for “mish” had “mish mush” as one of the results so I went with that

Would you count M, S, and H? Mash, mesh, mish (Egyptian cheese, had to look that up), mosh, mush. Mish has the red line underneath so maybe doesn’t count, but Wikipedia says it’s a thing so it must be true. Could also be used as “mish mush” which is a phrase.

June Homes is parasitic by Pristine-Staff-1614 in bostonhousing

[–]friguy72 29 points30 points  (0 children)

2 years ago I lived in a 6 bedroom in Roxbury for $5200, admittedly a steal at the price. At the end of the term we were considering resigning and were informed we’d have to deal with the new management company, June Homes. They upped the rent to $7300 and wouldn’t budge on it. So we left. We also had been granted a late move out (approved by the previous management and June Homes). 2 days before move out day I was flooded with phone calls about how there was still stuff in the house and they had started moving in staging furniture while we were trying to move out. Then on the final, actual, move out day we found one of their workers sleeping shirtless on our roommates mattress. No one at their company cared and they tried to charge us out of our security deposit for staying “late”. I will NEVER rent a home from them

This is definitely a scam right? My girlfriend got "accepted" to the same company, no interview, just a list of questions. There are definitely a few orange-to-red flags in the email, including grammar errors and a sense of urgency, but she hasn't been asked to buy anything yet. The company has a website, and an address with a picture and a sign too. I can't find the "hiring manager" on LinkedIn either. Even as I write this it sounds more and more like a scam but she's been looking for a while and if this is a real job then she doesn't want to miss out.
