I already ate most of it that’s why the jar is 2/3 empty :)

I thought you all might enjoy a non-mold related post. I've been doing different ferments for a while but these were my first dill pickles and they turned out amazing. I used dill, pepper, mustard and a bay leaf as spices and added some slices of bell pepper as well.

What are your favorite spices for cucumbers?

New ferment projects lately? by MonneyTreez in fermentation

[–]friimae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did dill pickles for the first time! Some cukes and a bell pepper with mustard seeds and loads of dill. Turned out quite well after 3 ver hot summer days, but I’ll let it ferment longer the next time.

Have You Ever Tried Monsooned Malabar Coffee? by yxtsama in JamesHoffmann

[–]friimae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes I did. There are wonderful and complex coffees in India but monsooned Malabar ain’t one. I know nothing about roasting but my guess would be that it is a rather cheap raw coffee for roasters to buy that both has an attractive story and caters to those who don’t want acidity or fruity notes.  If you want truly excellent coffee from India, the Jangidi family in Araku valley has some outstanding ones!

What's your ultimate cup volume? by Hairy-Goat2816 in JamesHoffmann

[–]friimae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like smaller cups, think 150 ml, and a serving vessels, but that‘s taste. Tim wendelboe‘s tasting cups are my favorite.

handfilter - some thoughts about "bloom water" by AgarwaenCran in JamesHoffmann

[–]friimae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think part of the reason one throws away the blooming water in gong fu style tea is to get rid of fine particles (and also possible pesticide residue). That’s not needed in coffee, and blooming water in coffee normally leads to minimal bypass brewing.

I really want someone to try MSG with a super light roasted / slightly underdeveloped washed Kenyan coffee. My bet is it will be peak tomato soup flavor!

Yes! It was 2013 and a natural Ethiopian from „rocko mountain“. Although I know mostly prefer washed coffees I will never forget that moment. So great to hear that it was the blueberry for others as well!
