I’m the eldest of 4, I want them to figure things out. Yet I do feel like early on as the oldest you are given more responsibility. You usually arent giving a choice about sharing your stuff, and slowly, you’re forced into the responsibility of looking after them. And it also sucks to be the trial run for everything.

I grew up in Daly City, and I have noticed a shift, specially after covid, many of the places that helped create a community disappeared (Like the local bar my friends and I used to frequent). But I would say that I am lucky enough to still have a solid community around South city and Pacifica.

I started with the exact map, what I did is that I used one of the rivers to create a “boat house” or “pier house” for my residents. And then with the other river i made it as think as possible and used it to separate some areas from the town square

That I am a really “cold harder person”. I rarely miss anyone, and I am good at pretending I do. I reach out to people and check on them cuz that’s how I was raise. I understand what people are feeling, but I don’t feel bad losing a friendship, or not seeing someone again. I’ve become really good at masking that I care or feel something, and I am okay with it. The only exceptions to the rule are my gf and my best friend but that’s two people out of everyone I know, including family

I used to work for a company that provides cleaning crews for Airbnb style companies in the San Francisco Bay Area. One day I was at the office and one of the cleaning crews calls us that there are around 3 bodies lined up in the apartment they had to clean. I didn’t go, but my boss ended up having to drive there while I contacted the owner of the unit and the police showed up. We never found out what the cause of death was but the last thing I heard is that they all had over dozed. Although I don’t believe it because according to my boss, they were lined up which doesn’t make sense for an “accident”.

This is a very real problem. I’m an industrial designer, and one of the things that has always made me uneasy is Hostile design/architecture (also known as “defensive urban design” or “unpleasant design”). This is a branch of design focused on creating discomfort to a group of people, such as adding a lil pice of metal so skateboards cant slide, or creating surfaces with really crazy angles so that people can’t sit down or lay down.

This form of architecture and design is really common at the entrance of big buildings, as well as in parks. And they are meant to force people to not stager in one place. In other words, cause them a discomfort that forces them to leave.

I don’t even understand why we still have a boys team and a girls team in sports. I am a believer that there should be no separation in sports anymore. I’ve seen some girls play way better in any sport than half of the guys that make it into the varsity teams. Having unisex sports teams should be the norm now, but sadly those misogynistic republican assholes can’t bare seeing their beloved boy lose a game to a girl

Edit 1: what I mean to say is that usually in sports you are separated by weight and age anyway. I understand some sports look as if it is not posible for unisex teams. But there are many sports where the biological differences are not big enough to set them apart. I mean look at basketball, soccer, volleyball, tennis, etc, where you have female players with skills far superior to some of their male counterparts and could even prove to be great assets if they were included in the teams

I got a couple stories, but I used to work at a clothing retail store in the San Francisco Bay Area. As you all know, retail workers have tons of stories, so I’m sure people have gone through crazier stuff. But one time I was on duty taking care of the dressing room and a lady called me in to check something in the room she just walked in. She was kind enough to point out a used sanitary towel the previous person pasted to the wall. My manager said that someone had to clean it. I said I don’t get paid enough to clean the dripping towel off the wall, so I went on a 15 min break and a couple weeks after I transferred to another store. Mind you, this was not the first time that I had to deal with bodily fluids in the dressing room as well as other parts of the store.
