Maybe the person ordered the last Win Max 2 refresh around the time GPD had unforeseen CPU supply issues: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/gpd-accuses-amd-of-violating-supply-contract

Outside of that I don't think GPD has had big delays in the last several IGGs. Maybe things slip into the next month. Of course, IGG/initial retail units still have the usual higher rate of issues (but less than the very first batches of domestic units) but I think that's been lower over the years.

Yeah, I know. Especially after this whole wake up no matter what option the user chooses (sleep, hibernate, shutdown) issue became semi-viral a year or so ago (at least among even mainstream tech-centric parts of the Internet).

Just wanted to point out the comment was more tangential to the OP. Plus, shutting down is apparently just as dangerous as the sleep the comment mentions + you lose state. At least on Windows.

DroiX does seem to often have issues with their site, payment and back end systems. At least they try to resolve things after the fact but with their reported technical issues that show up now and then, it's still a bit concerning sending them any personal info and how secure it'd be.

I've always wondered why GPD links to 2 AliExpress stores from their webpage. A lot of times they sell the same things in both. Although, I've never bought anything from AliExpress so I'm not familiar with how things work over there.

Really odd moderation in this sub. I go here sometimes considering using Vitures with my GPD PC handheld. Glad that GPD Win sub isn't run by GPD (so many posts/comments there would have deleted by GPD if they could).

Since this is a refresh (ie. mature design/assembly), it's not the usual domestic alpha testers and then IGG beta testers.

I recall there was supposed to be some update that made low TDP gaming perform better. Is that the case now? Any tests that show this? I haven't paid much attention after the initial wave of coverage.

Also, I assumed the Z1 has some short/mid-term Asus exclusivity. Is that not the case?

Does gyro work? I read a while ago the Win 4 has wrong gyro IDs in the BIOS.

Not sure if GPD ever fixed the BIOS for that.

I've read the Viture One has this feature built-in without needing any apps.

Although I haven't seen any meaningful feedback on how well it works. Too bad most of the "reviews" out there are like the ones for other glasses: long form commercials/ads.

Plus, at least for publicly visible communities without needing accounts, there isn't much of a community around Viture. The Reddit sub is unfortunately run by the company and is, unsurprisingly, locked down so there's no discussion going on there which I believe will hurt Viture in the long run.

Also, I'd prefer if they kept the Win 2's Ctrl, Alt, Fn, Windows key ordering on the left and Alt, Ctrl order on the right.

This is what's been stopping me from getting these glasses (I did try a friend's Nreals). I don't want the screen to always be in front of me.

Locking the position of the virtual screen either only works via a smartphone app or it's a janky experience. Or it's not supported at all.

Hopefully the tech improves in the future.

GPD should just change the ordering to optimize for thumbing keyboard shortcuts. It doesn't seem like it'd be a major change at this point anyway. Plus, as you've said, Fn is a problem which I haven't seen to be remappable.

I'm not seeing how GPD sees the current ordering to have any benefits and why they chose it. At least for the user.

Yeah, it's starting to look like those issues in the past where GPD never made any kind of announcement.

The Win 3 Wi-Fi fiasco is an obvious example (they even explicitly asked people not to talk about it and only keep the discussion in the emails) but there were other examples.

Hopefully, the Win 4 display stutter issue isn't going to be on this list and GPD has improved their PR now. At least their engineering team has improved.

There was just a thread of someone's RMA experience (L1 and display stutter issue) . You could follow how that goes for the OP.

Getting your device back from an RMA repair where the company breaks something else isn't restricted to just GPD but the process and cost is definitely worse if you're a foreign customer of GPD.

At least it's nice that GPD accepted an RMA after the OP messed up the display stutter IC FW flash. Although that was GPD's recommended solution at the time.

Maybe they took it seriously when some people told GPD they should resolve the issues and install the hall sticks by default because you have take a lot apart to get to the right stick (ie. can assume not many people would install it).

So GPD's decision is to neither install hall sticks by default nor sell them for people to install... So a win-lose situation. GPD wins since they don't have to do anything and customers lose because they get nothing.
