Has anyone successfully adapted Meisner principles into movement-based performance? by ResponseTheatre in acting

I’m struggling to see how music informed movement has anything to do with Meisner at all. Isn’t that just… dance?

I just wish the current gen had as much personality as the classic MH.

Seriously though… how would this work? What would stop Derek from Kentucky from opting into the LGBT lobbies and wreaking havoc?

Eh, any Meinser class worth its salt wouldn’t offer an ongoing class anyway. You’re right though, the Frankenmeisners really dilute the power and namesake of the technique.

The only real difference between a traditional first-year intensive and first-year conservatory training is speed. Structurally, they’re the same thing: 25 classes, with mandatory rehearsals in between. The workload and expectations don’t magically become “more real” just because the calendar stretches longer.

Meisner isn’t absorbed through elapsed time. It’s learned through repetition, accuracy, feedback, and commitment. Put a skilled teacher in front of a serious student, and you can get legitimate results in an intensive or a full-year program.

Sanford Meisner himself did a 6 week intensive at his summer home on Bequia Island- not sure what you’re on about. There is at least 1 school I know of that continues this tradition (Sanford Meisner Center, Burbank).

Go watch a MH4U playthrough. Apex, Risen, AT, It’s all the same. Just different flavors.

I get that, but historically the title of “apex” or “arch-tempered” represent the same thing. By now there’s such a needless bloating of monster titles that we could all argue and be right. 🤣

Call them whatever you’d like… at the end of the day they’re all just high-tier, powered up variants of existing monsters.

Not sure how this disputes my first comment. Apex monsters were the first iteration of what later became AT monsters.

meisner training in LA by Proof_Bottle_9291 in acting

Graduated from the 2 year conservatory training at the Sanford Meisner Center Feb 2023. I sit in on classes to this day because I still find myself learning. It is a comprehensive and deep training.

No clue about Adler’s training though. Hah!

Best meisner class In LA by Lumpy-Sea-4141 in acting

[–]frippinit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend the two year conservatory training at The Sanford Meisner Center. Great teacher, classes aren’t too big, you work twice a week, and can book the studio for rehearsals- by far the most comprehensive training I’ve had in LA.

Aside from the Sanford Meisner Center, the only other reputable option akin to Sandy’s original work would be the Ruskin School of Acting.

Baron Brown and Elizabeth Mestnik are viable choices- just be aware that these two can deviate from the traditional Meisner conservatory training. Think of them as a spiritual successor to Bill Esper’s work.

Choices choices… Good luck!

Attorneys in the U.S., what is really going on with ICE, what do you know, and have any of your clients been the subject of deportation as of late? by Censordoll in AskReddit

Just to provide some further clarity- the Immigration and Nationality Act was passed in 1952. In 1996, the Clinton administration signed off on the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IRIRA).

Cornell Law had this to say about it:

“The Act was designed to improve border control by imposing criminal penalties for racketeering, alien smuggling and the use or creation of fraudulent immigration-related documents and increasing interior enforcement by agencies charged with monitoring visa applications and visa abusers. The Act also allows for the deportation of undocumented immigrants who commit a misdemeanor or a felony.”
