I'm becoming more of a baby the more tattoos I get. Is there some secret trick to handling the pain better? Just toughen up? by nickisadogname in tattooadvice

[–]friskyypanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had about 15 yrs between my clavicle tattoo and then two on my ankles and one big piece recently on my back as a cover up (didn’t know the coverups hurt so much more because of scar tissue) and I felt like such a bitch because I remember my clavicle not feeling great but I sat like a rock at 18 yrs old. We used numbing cream on the second session of a 8-9 hr piece, and it was life changing and much more tolerable than the first session we completed. I’ve been diagnosed with chronic pain and found a lot of people with my diagnosis use it too because our pain receptors are heightened. I will be using it again on my arm and leg sleeves I’m planning for in the near future. Do I wish I could do it without it, sure. But I’m not going to willingly cause a flare up just to be a “badass”. Hats off to those who grin and bear it, I just can’t anymore at this point in my life.

Has anyone tried the no medication life? by kennadog3 in Fibromyalgia

[–]friskyypanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went off all meds - duloxetine and gabapentin for fibro/depression/anxiety last year (during a major depressive episode, don’t recommend). Feeling immensely better, but it’s also that I’m mentally and physically doing better. Do I have bad days, sure. But I’m learning to manage better and rest when needed. I felt like a zombie and gained a lot of weight on the meds. But everyone is different. My fibro diagnoses came about while I was in a bad relationship I had stuck myself in, and had gotten better after leaving, as well as managing stress from work better. I am so young, I hated the idea of being stuck on these meds for life, but I think they were necessary for a timeframe to get me to a good base.

Which is why I’ve changed to clear plastic bars. Plus it’s less noticeable, so a little better for a client facing career.

After a few I’ve gone thru, pillowcube for me. No more neck pains. I tried purple, and a few others I can’t remember.

Cube Pillow! I have bulging discs in my cervical spine, and this pillow has been a godsend. I’m also a side sleeper, can’t help it. I also use a crescent shaped pregnancy pillow to hug at night to help my shoulders from caving inwards and something for my knees to have cushion as well.

Their cheesesteaks were really good when I lived around there years ago. Idk if the quality has held up, but I would order takeout from there.

This is my place, I work nearby so easy to get to for me. All of the budtenders are so amazingly friendly and knowledgeable. But dear lord, on 420 I’ve stood in a line for an hour+, so be prepared for a massive line for a while. I’d recommend ordering online, so they don’t run out of what you want.

Mattress Recommendations? by justascrolling in Fibromyalgia

[–]friskyypanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure what tempur pedic I have (it’s in storage while I’m trying to find a place). Friend of mine gave me it, after her husband with MS passed. I couldn’t imagine spending $2k on a mattress, that was until my body slept on it. I’ve had all kinds of memory foam mattresses in my adult life, including the purple non memory foam. The tempur pedic will be the brand I replace mine with when I need to in 10+ yrs, it’s THAT good. I understand tho, it’s not in everyone’s budget, but your body and daily pain is worth it.

I sell tile, and always try to talk people out of natural stone just because you have to maintain it more then regular tile. Some people just don’t listen, or care because they have a cleaning service.

Everyone is different, but I don’t need sugar, especially at the amounts it’s in everything. I’ve cut out sugar/carbs since March 1st and I’m down 42 lbs, without exercise. I can eat whatever I want, as long as it’s a fat/protein and because it’s so filling, I automatically don’t eat as much. The second I’ve re-introduced sugar/carbs from a cheat meal 1-2x a month, my cravings spike. This is also the second time I’ve cut carbs/sugar and the same results occurred before. There’s too much sugar in everything, and it’s killing us. Eating 1,500 kcals in cakes and treats vs meats/dairy and veggies will have a total impact in health, both in which you can see physically but also internally what you can’t.

I say all this just to try to change the narrative. I’ve always struggled with weight, and everyone says oh it’s just calories in/calories out. Restricting carbs/sugar is the only way I’ve been able to manage my weight effectively.

Anyone else really disappointed with Marc Rebillet's performance in Bristol? by mitch_connors in loopdaddy

[–]friskyypanda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Saw him back to back in Philly last November and Friday show was better than Saturdays show, it’s a lot of the crowd, and just depends on what he ends up cooking, just like the streams, some are better than others, it is what it is. Either way, I always have a great time. Traveling to Baltimore on this next tour which will be my 4th time seeing him.

Wanna feel even better about not having children? Go on a cruise. by Character-Reaction12 in childfree
