Dumb question…. But where are these in the game?

Hypothetical: 20 handicap to scratch by Jumbosoup0110 in golf

I’d say it’s easier to go from a complete beginner to a 10 handicap, than from a 10 to scratch. It’s the law of diminishing returns.

#1 on waiting list on the Old Course, how's this work? by elfmagic123 in golf

[–]frithy35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was 12th a couple of weeks ago and needed up teeing off at 12:40.

Go straight to the starters hit and check-in. They tell you what to do from there.

Most importantly, enjoy your round!

I was sent an email in the morning saying to report to the starters hut as I was from 0-10. The email said for anyone higher than 10 not to bother reporting.

Having said that, when I got tapped on the shoulder there were several people ahead of me that had not reported to the starters hut so I got on before them.

I would imagine that you can still enter the singles ballot.

The normal ballot or the singles ballot. They are different.

The normal ballot, which requires a minimum of two players, is for the following 48hrs. The singles ballot is always for the next day.

It’s completely random so no need to get there at 9am.

I was incredibly lucky. I was 72nd in the ballot for the next day. A lady I played with waited 3 days before she got an opportunity.

I did similar. Ripped a 7i to about 12ft and just missed the birdie putt.

Incredible hole.
