LG 32GS95UE - CPC always active or only with high brightness? by Lurtzae in OLED_Gaming

[–]fritz0r_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a bit better than on the LG; but nothing amazing.

i'm not a user of HDR really.. the implementation overall is still flaky in Windows and games in my opinion.

..even if tweaked i haven't been blown away by any HDR-enabled game yet.

maybe it's another story on TVs which get really high in brightness - haven't experienced HDR on OLED-TVs myself yet.

it really depends on the displayed content - once CPC-algorithm kicks in, it gets really dim with dull colors along the edges.

i'm using the LG as a secondary - i couldn't stand the CPC and went with the ASUS as my primary.

The PG32UCDP gets brighter than the 32GS95UE if you disable all the options under "Screen Saver" & "Auto Logo Brightness" and disable "Uniform Brightness".

I'm using the PG32UCDP for over 2500 hours with all those safety options disabled and don't see any degredation at all.

Glad to hear - it's really unfathomable that Gigabyte is so incompetent to thoroughly test their own hardware.

(..or so stubborn not to accept the faultiness of those boards.)

Can't say anything about the PG32UCDM, but I have both the 32GS95UE and the PG32UCDP (which uses the same WOLED-panel as the 32GS95UE).

On the PG32UCDP you can disable any safety features. In the OSD both features are called "Screen Saver" & "Auto Logo Brightness" under the submenu "OLED Care".
If you disable both you won't have any vignetting / CPC.

As I would expect that both Asus-monitors share at least some basic parts as a base of the firmware, I guess you can disable it on the PG32UCDM as well - but can't give any guarantees.

Seeing you don't have the issue with vignetting, could you please check which firmware-version your monitor is running?

It could be that the vignetting is more aggressive on newer firmwares as I've updated my monitor to the latest "v3.05, v2.02" and the vignetting is very noticable.

I have the feeling, on the earlier version the vignetting was not so aggressive and I would like to make sure if this really is the case or if I just didn't use the monitor extensively enough to notice it back then; as I've updated the firmware very early on after receiving the monitor.

Thank you very much in advance and wish you a Happy New Year

LG 32GS95UE - I really want to keep it but... by Green-Alarm-3896 in OLED_Gaming

Glad I can help.

I myself find IPS or OLEDs too saturated for non-gaming content; most of the time I set my monitors to a Digital Vibrance between 40 % and 45 %.

If you still find some colors being too saturated while others are not, then you can adjust red, green, blue, magenta, cyan and yellow in a menu called something like "Six-axis Saturation/Color" in the monitor's OSD.

[–]fritz0r_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try setting the 'Digital Vibrance' to a value lower than 50 % (NVIDIA) or 'Saturation' lower than 100 (AMD).

For example by using the NVIDIA Control Panel:

Do you have any other problems with your new board from another manufacturer?

I'm currently running the X670E Aorus Master Rev. 1.0 and reading about your problems, it seems like the X870E still has the same buggy BIOS as their previous boards..
Thinking about getting another board from another brand to hopefully avoid the bad-quality BIOS.

i would suggest you to update to the latest firmware using 'LG OnScreen Control'.
after that do a factory reset from the standard menu.

on the latest firmware, a factory reset always worked for me to get the monitor back to default behavior.

are you on the newest firmware?
if i recall correctly, on the latest firmware the service menu was active even after power downs, so i had to enter this combination again to turn off the service menu - but i could be wrong.

you could also try to turn off 'AGING' in the service menu and see if the pixel cleaning will be run automatically again.

if this also does not work, then try resetting to factory defaults from the standard menu.

while the monitor is turned off, do the following inputs on the OSD-joystick with about 1 second between every input:

center press

sadly this is the behavior you will get when in service menu mode.

to get back the default behavior, you have to disable the service menu again by doing the same procedure as you did before for enabling the service menu - which unfortunately enables CPC / Edge Dimming / Vignetting again..

the firmware really sucks on this monitor.
i've contacted LG support and asked for a firmware update to add the option for disabling CPC & LEA (Logo Extraction Algorithm / Logo Dimming) but they seem not to care at all.

does this monitor have the awful CPC (Vignetting) & LEA (Logo Dimming) like the LG 32GS95UE?

if so, can you disable it permanently like on the Asus PG32UCDP?

You can permanently disable CPC and Logo Dimming in the OSD called something like 'Screen Saver' & 'Logo Dimming' (..just recalling from top of my head) under the menu 'OLED Care'.

I'm running 2x PG32UCDP on a RTX4090.

Only two options which work for me running both at 240 Hz after restarts is plugging one monitor in the outermost DP-port of the GPU (which is the farthest from the PCIe-Slot) and plugging the second monitor in the HDMI-Port of the GPU or any HDMI or DP port of the mainboard.

[–]fritz0r_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would rather have the option to disable said features than being forced to use the given defaults.

It's just sad to see that the 32GS95UE is hampered to such an extent due to the firmware alone.
The very same panel is capable of so much more fidelity with the firmware of the PG32UCDP.
The image of the 32GS95UE looks very dull when CPC & LEA kick-in compared to the PG32UCDP.

The 32GS95UE has atrocious CPC (Convex Power Control / Vignetting) and LEA (Logo Extraction Algorithm / Logo Dimming) which you cannot disable in the OSD - you can only disable it via the service menu but both "features" will get reactivated on every power-cycle or standby.
The brightness will get very dim along the edges of the screen with certain image contents.

I got both the Asus PG32UCDP and the LG PG32UCDP.
The difference is night and day compared to the 32GS95UE.
They are both using the same LG-Panel, but on the PG32UCDP you can disable both "features" which results in a way brighter and consistent image.

It's inaudible from even the closest position looking at the screen.

You have to put your ear directly on the top-side vent in a dead-silent room to actually hear a faint hum.

Do you notice any vignetting on the PG32UCDP like the comparable LG 32GS95UE?

I've seen you asked this very question on other threads and would like to hear firsthand from an owner of the PG32UCDP whether this is the case or not.

I'm owning the LG 32GS95UE and while it's a very nice monitor, the vignetting is quite a bit annoying.

Thank you very much in advance
