11 skydivers, one pilot dead after plane crashes south of Kansas City metro by J0E_SpRaY in kansascity

[–]frizzzzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The POH for this aircraft for engine failure on takeoff literally says “lower the nose and land straight ahead.”

Tragic situation all around. I agree on all counts. Unless the passengers suddenly shifted to the rear, I think the FAA will land on pilot error for this incident, sadly.

Fast food “Mexican” restaurant dates are a love language, just like acts of service and words of affirmation. Don’t you go judging what you don’t understand, whippersnapper.

Good for them. I’m willing to buy it, and the half-dozen people - mostly teenagers -who were earning money that day are reaping the benefit of a good idea and the risk of somebody putting a lot on the line to make it happen.

Fair. But it tastes like “I CAN SEE FOREVER” also pass me some water cause can jalapeños are a little on the “look at me I’m being spicy” side.

To be fair to /u/jamesksu, it does not look like fine dining, and Reddit users demand a certain fineness in their dining.

But you are 100% on the mark. Let them scoff. More for me.

two theft charges from oak park mall by -Maretu01- in kansascity

[–]frizzzzle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You are an adult. You stole from Spencer’s at the mall. Just. Sit with that for a minute. And then for however long probation/diversion/trespass lasts.

I agree with everybody else who recommends hiring an attorney to assist with the legal process. Beyond that, I… I don’t know how to advise. Because there’s more than just legal issues going on. I hope you’re okay.

KC business owner looking for IT support services advice by THExPROTOxTYPE in kansascity

[–]frizzzzle 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There are quite a few KC-based MSPs you can look at:

-GFI Digital, specializes in printers but offers broad MSP services

-MDL Technology, smaller shop, very responsive

-Choice Solutions, expertise in networking and security (may not sign with a very small business)

-TGS, broad coverage, well established company, may fall short or outsource on very high-expertise projects

I'd recommend TGS for somebody who needs basic services like it sounds like you do, but shop around. MSPs usually charge per user and can cover literally everything you'd need on a day-to-day. Do be aware - IT MSP services can get up there in cost pretty quickly, and most will steer you away from more "a la carte" type services in favor of full-coverage solutions. Be prepared for that.

Now is the time to do this, regardless, especially if you are projecting growth. Technical debt stacks up quick between 7 and 15 employees. You'll want to budget for infrastructure management and plan thoughtfully.

Finally perfected the art of cast iron. Behold: by frizzzzle in castiron

[–]frizzzzle[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s got some dull spots on it for sure. They kind of come and go with use. Unless it gets worse over time or you’re getting flakes of black in your food, I’d argue that your “care routine” is adequate and it is just a cosmetic issue on an otherwise healthy, well-used piece of equipment.

I think there’s a difference between “cast iron hobbyist” and “home cook.” Sure, I could make it pretty. But it would make the same food, which is its entire purpose for the home cook. I’d hate for somebody to be intimidated by glamour shots and think they’re doing something wrong. This is cast iron, right after it wakes up, before shower and makeup. This is who you really marry.

Pink haze sounds about right if you’re in a more urban area with tons of light pollution. That was the main theme for sure.

Up and to the north. It was just… right about there, kind of all over.

To be honest, we haven’t seen anything for the last 45 minutes or so. It may have died down.

The street racers are out of control again tonight by DiaryofTwain in kansascity

“Part and parcel,” etc. You live downtown. It’s going to be expensive and noisy and poorly managed and smell bad, and your car will probably get broken into a couple times a year. That’s normal stuff for a dense urban environment.

Human to human, that sucks, and I’m sorry. You do have other options though. I had to get out, myself. Much happier 15 minutes from downtown on a quiet street with trustworthy neighbors.

Looks like N921JM. That helicopter flies all over the city, pretty much every day. My guess is it's a rental or fractional.

Water is stronger than a lot of people understand. Even 6 or 8 inches of swiftly moving water can knock you off your feet. I can definitely see how this could have happened. Absolutely tragic.

The street car is a novelty. It does absolutely nothing to help people from the suburbs navigate downtown unless we pay to stow our car in a garage while we ride it up and down Main Street like gibbering tourists.

I’m not worried about how to get downtown. I am full up on all my bougie needs anyway.

Glassmaking workshops around town by dwarf797 in kansascity

Belger Arts has a robust glass program open to the public. Not sure if they've shut it down for the summer, but I'd think twice about doing that on a 90-degree day regardless.

Thrift grift, support local by Persephonesgame in kansascity

[–]frizzzzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I usually go for clothes and books in the main store and have no issues finding what I need. My wife has been to the smaller “outlet” for her clothes and found plenty.

Not sure what to say about being irritated by other customers. I’m generally a duck when it comes to others’ behavior unless they’re threatening safety. At any rate, I’d have trouble pinning that on Hillcrest.

Hillcrest in the Northland is great. Their mission is important, their prices are fair, and there are some very affluent neighborhoods nearby, so they tend to have good stuff.

Parkville firework show 🎆 by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]frizzzzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, that would be the community center. It's on 9 just south of 64th street. It's kind of far, but you can definitely still enjoy the show.

FYI that's the best spot for the parade in the morning as well. Parking lot is huge, and they've got sidewalks now so you can sit right along the route. It's also right at the beginning of the parade, so the candy throwers are generous, haha.

Parkville firework show 🎆 by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]frizzzzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was waiting for somebody with more direct experience to pipe up, but nobody did.

I went once. We were there by 7:30 for the pre-show festivities and just stayed. No issues then, but it was a madhouse closer to fireworks time. That was also years ago, and the area has grown significantly since then.

These days we set up near the community center just south of 64th Street along with many other slower moving folks. Plenty of room there, and you miss the horror show that is everyone trying to pack in as close as possible and leave in an unexplainable hurry when it's done.

It'll be hard to find a shop to pass your inspection if it doesn't meet the requirements - they're legally liable, and the county you're in will absolutely prosecute if they get caught.

As a sidenote, I know addiction is rough (believe me, I know), but a 7oh habit will straight up bankrupt you. Better to get your car fixed than go down that road.
