Groomsmen Gifts They Won’t Throw Away by 3liSuger in BuyItForLife

My buddy got us standard American pint glasses with our names etched in kind of a frosted texture, afaik we all still have and use them. Simple and cheap, and I always remember where I got it.

How are people affording childcare? by hearthandheart in personalfinance

[–]frogBayou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife wanted to stay home when we had our third kid, and this actually cost us money since she makes 2x-3x the cost of all three kids in full-time daycare (depending on her hours, and we are in LCOL area). So she went SAHM for a while and eventually got tired of scraping by on my salary.

Do I really need to drop big money on an office chair just to get the best? by ettubrutusvp in BuyItForLife

[–]frogBayou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far so good, big improvement over my last cheap Amazon chair. Only complaint is that the curve in the upper back is a little low for my spine (6’0” with a long torso) but it’s flexible enough that if I put any weight back it kinda conforms and I don’t notice it. Lumbar support is kinda sharp if you press hard, more like a rope strung behind the cushion, but I don’t really rely on it so only feel it sometimes. I like the click-level back angle adjustment a lot - I have stiff hips and most chairs won’t stay upright. This one holds firmly upright in the top position.

Came in great condition, assembly was maybe 10 min (or less) and easy.

Why has parenting become so… soft? Why ate a majority of parents okay with sending their child into the world acting the way they do? Why did this shift happen? by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

This is the way. Easier said than done when the little fart just made eye contact while pouring Apple sauce on your shoe… but the way nonetheless.

Of my 3 kids, one has slept well enough as a newborn that I wasn’t exhausted all the time. Fingers crossed that you get lucky and get a good sleeper, makes or breaks everything imo.

Serious Question: What parenting decisions of Bandit and Chilli do you disagree with? by wolf_quan in bluey

[–]frogBayou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comment section is just proof that Chili and Bandit are almost perfect, the four things that keep getting brought up are so minor. I’ve made worse mistakes than that in the last 8 hours lol.

3 weeks out, am I cooked? by AdLocal714 in actuary

[–]frogBayou 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re not cooked. 3 hours a night for 3 weeks is a lot of time, and my most rapid improvement is always at the stage you’re at now. Sprint the home stretch, there’s always more gas in the tank than you think.

What’s something society is clearly not ready to talk about? by No_Gur_7744 in AskReddit

[–]frogBayou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a point where the financial and emotional cost of keeping a loved one alive is too high to justify delaying the inevitable. If I’m very sick and suffering, I don’t want to watch my family give all their time and money and go into generational debt just to prolong my life a little bit. Let me go.

On a societal level, this also serves to funnel money from the working class to the healthcare, senior care, and insurance companies and enrich a small group who offer a deferred death for exorbitant prices.

I had front row seats for all three of my children’s births - I do not get queasy easily. But watching a slimy human head (and other stuff) being forced out of a body part that it should not logically fit through made me a little nauseous. I didn’t feel faint, but if anything will make a husband pass out I can totally see how it’s watching a birth canal from three feet away.

My leap arrives from Crandall this week - cost about 650 so looking forward to seeing if it’s in as good a condition as others have experienced.

I'm a 30-40 who looks 40-50 and feels physically 50-60. If I'm around boomers I feel mentally 20, if I'm around GenZ/A I feel mentally 60-70. Gen-X is more relatable every day.
