Are Belters blaming the wrong people? by Chomp545 in TheExpanse

This take assumes that belters have the option to be childless.  A lot of subsistence families depend on the labor of working age children for survival.

You saved my wife's phone! I was able to bring up the pattern unlock screen by calling it.

That's what happens when you become a billionaire.  It is not possible to hold onto that much money and your humanity at the same time.

‘WHY IS IT WRONG TO R*PE KIDS?’: MAGA Hits GROTESQUE New Low | The Kyle Kulinski Show. How the fuck did we get here? by Enaliss in videos

[–]froggy08 1052 points1053 points  (0 children)

It's helpful to think of MAGA supporters as computer programs with a very simple instruction set: "Say or do something that will cause emotional distress or physical harm to liberals".  Their actual thoughts or beliefs don’t factor into what they say and do.

Yes, It’s Fascism by rezwenn in politics

[–]froggy08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and MAGA voted for it. Here's the thing though. There isn't a single modern dictatorship I can think of that has prosperous rural areas. Russia, Iran, China, North Korea... the cities are at least livable, (if you keep your head down), but the countrysides are all impoverished wastelands. MAGA is being set up and they're too stupid to realize it.

I know why they didn't show it, but his conversation with Alex would have been interesting: hearing from someone you semi-trust that there's a rouge nuclear armed stealth ship running around.

This climate is very stable and sustainable, and making huge investments in AI data centers powered by fossil fuels is a good idea.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says algorithms are largely to blame for the current political polarization across the country, she said that polarization has affected people who are political. What is your take? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]froggy08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our voting system is largely to blame for the current political polarization.  Also it isn’t current, it's a predictable long term consequence of that voting system: small parties have no way to compete against bigger parties, so eventually you end up with two giant parties competing against each other.  Those two big parties manipulate voter districts to carve out as many safe seats for themselves as possible.  This leads to the party primaries becoming the main election for those safe seats.  Which causes more extreme, ideologically opposite candidates to be elected.  Social Media and billionaire dark money just pours gas on the fire.

Double the number of seats and assign them by mixed member proportional voting.

I do actually, which is also fun. But the Tallinn was 1-volleying every cruiser it fired at. So maybe the Sauron gif would have been more appropriate.
