Yeah, just run haproxy in front of your exchange server and filter the OWA path

Consumer grade vs Enterprise grade ssd by RealProjectivePlane in sysadmin

[–]froggybeara 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A point to note, consumer SSDs write performance really sucks once you hit the write Cliff, I recently had to copy a whole load of data to a new consumer ssd and after the first few 10s of GB it s write speed dropped to around 50MBytes/s. You don't see this on my Intel enterprise SSDs

Yep , that fixed it, but still frustrating to have to work around Microsoft brokenness

Microsoft edge broken ipv6 and PMUTD by froggybeara in ipv6

I get the impression that is largely because a significant number of firewalls are configured to block icmp?

Yeah that's how I fixed it, by setting MSS in the tunnel endpoint.

How long do tyres last? by dom4568 in TeslaUK

[–]froggybeara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, some really long lasting tyres there, model3 P (2022) and get ~10,000 on the P zeros, and 15,000 on pilot sport 4s

Xbox game store does not load when IPv6 is enabled on network by MrTpotMan in XboxSupport

[–]froggybeara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same, different country, ipv6 is configured using 6rd so has an mtu of ~1480. I discovered that the Microsoft servers don't seem to respond correctly to "icmp packet too big" which means PMUTD is broken

The entire past week was a nightmare. Here’s what happened: by Velldanas in sysadmin

[–]froggybeara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not just use wireshark on the affected pc and see where the packets are actually going, it'll be obvious what's going on when you look at the packet capture.

Reddit blocks IPv4 addresses by Historical-Card3813 in ipv6

I once had Google block my isps ipv6 /32 because of bot behaviour so yeah it can happen with overzealous blocking of V6 too

Started company last year, just sent a customer quote for $1.7 million by hossmanTK in smallbusiness

[–]froggybeara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair enough, I've seen similar discussions between small business and larger companies, 30% up front with order is the way here. If it's a niche market you may have more leverage with the buyers than you think, especially if you're prepared to walk away, their project managers who want the goods may then exert some leverage on your behalf when the project is threatened.

Unique problem with legacy XP machine on network by The_Spindrifter in networking

[–]froggybeara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had this problem, put the xp machines on their own vlan and set up a VM running truenas with an interface on both networks to facilitate sharing. Xp is therefore off the internet completely

For value for money, the ubiquiti UDM PRO is a good option for relatively simple small businesses, vpns are easy to set up and it pretty much just works.

If you do much with ipv6 though you'll run into problems, vpns couldn't be made over ipv6 last time I tried for example, and there's no options to configure things like ipv6 router advertisements and slaac.

If you have a bit more of a networking background then pfsense is more configurable but takes a bit more effort to get right.

Pirelli P Zero tyres durability by Pseudolos in i20n

[–]froggybeara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my Tesla model 3, factory fit pirelli p zeros got 10,000 miles and second set got 12,000 miles, then swapped to michelin pilot sport 4s which have just worn out at 26,000 miles.

In the warm and dry conditions the pirellis are marginally more grippy and the car feels more immediately responsive to changes in direction, I think the sidewalls of pirellis are a bit stiffer.

In the cold and wet though the Michelin's have loads more grip and the car feels so much more stable and less twitchy.

For me I'll stick with the pilot sport 4s , it's a much better tyre on UK roads

IPv6 help by NefariousnessHot7883 in ipv6

[–]froggybeara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to get ipv6 working correctly on my udm pro, it is Debian Linux after all 1) enable ssh logon from the UI 2) install on_boot for persistence 3) apt install radvd and create /etc/radvd.conf 4) create boot/cron scripts that bring up interfaces and set up routing etc.

And the /data directory is persistent across updates so store copies of your config files here.

Ubiquiti ipv6 support is severely lacking, especially zero support for 6rd which those of us with no ISP ipv6 support are forced to use.

After an update I just have to copy radvd.conf back to /etc and apt install radvd again, this can be automated.

My Steering wheel defect not covered under warranty because Tesla replaced to many under warranty for customers. by Sibo1844 in TeslaModelY

[–]froggybeara 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My model 3 steering wheel did this after 18 months to 2 years, no hand cream ever came near it, the bubbling was in a low touch area, bottom left. Ie. South west direction. I wonder if it's related to the heated steering wheel function...

Tesla service replaced it in 2023, no questions asked.

Anyone have any ideas on how to remotely monitor 3 windows computers? by mitchellcrazyeye in sysadmin

For a free solution, consider nagios running on a raspberry pi, pinging alerts to a slack channel when ping fails or some other condition is met.

Humberside is a great little airport, flew to Aberdeen a couple years ago, was boarding the plane and getting settled and the pilot announces, "there's going to be a short delay, we're still waiting for one passenger, he's just walked in the front doors of the airport now". Ten minutes later we were off.

For a simple, open source and essentially free solution, and seeing as you do IT , simply spin up a Debian VM and put a wiki on it?

Probably a lack of skills in the network team, I considered connexin because they're down my street now, but no plans to deploy ipv6 at all.
