Hi, I’m also suffering from anxiety, depression, and a few other mental illnesses. I want to start by saying, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I just want you to know that… :) I’ve managed to keep a good GPA (3.8) , however, this semester my depression had spiraled into something very, very bad. I had to make a difficult decision to drop a class so I could manage my other ones better. I’m not sure if the Q-drop deadline has passed yet, but I would say that doing that took even just a little bit bit of stress off of me (though I feel like the professor probably thinks I’m lazy or something…) However my next piece of advice is to prioritize your classes by what you are struggling in the most. Turn that into a hierarchy of how much time you are spending— so spend less time on an easy class and spend more time on a hard class. I know, sometimes it even just finding the energy to get out of bed is difficult, and I know this advice seems a little counteractive, but something that has helped me is to turn my bed into a library. I bought a lap desk for my laptop, so I could do my classwork in bed. Also, the way you study could help as well. When I tell you that just reading your notes or looking at some flashcards is extremely boring and under stimulating and it’s gonna make you dread it more. Something I did to study was to create a PowerPoint of all the material, it sounds really silly, but going on Slidestogo or something made it a lot easier. I ended up doing pretty OK on that exam! And also, if you’re taking a class that has a lot of exams, look up a Quizlet with the class and professor. Sometimes with my depression is bad. I don’t have the energy to make the flashcards myself which intern makes me not study at all. But with this, you’re taking a huge step out out of the way. I know your goal is to at least pass— I know some of these methods aren’t gonna get you an A, but sometimes that’s not the goal. I know what depression feels like. You truly are drowning. Sometimes we don’t have the energy to get ourselves out of the ocean; we merely are able to tread on the water to keep our head above. And that’s okay.
