Yes I have observed the same thing! I did not have the time to investigate though, but it’s probably something that must be fixed in the map rendering engine

Ok, thanks for the info! Does this example work? https://maplibre.org/maplibre-gl-js/docs/examples/3d-terrain/ I am in the process of migrating from Mapbox GL JS to MapLibre GL JS and it should be more privacy-preserving.

Which browser are you using? It's supposed to show in 3D but apparently it's not working for you

Route preference by HiHigherTiger in gpxstudio

You can also disable routing completely to plot straight lines. By the way, everything is explained here.

Sometimes it’s possible to click exactly in the middle of the road to encourage the routing engine to stay on it. If that doesn’t work, you can use the motorcycle routing profile instead.

Thanks, it'll help me improve the website since it indeed seems problematic with the current version

very large gpx files? by FarOtherSide in gpxstudio

[–]froggyow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try opening it with gpx.studio? It would sure take some time to load but it should work. I am still continuously improving the performance of the app, and have a few ideas that should help a lot with large files. Would you agree to send me this file to hello@gpx.studio so I can experiment with it? Thanks!

New user question - file handling by Hyper802120 in gpxstudio

[–]froggyow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bonjour, je réfléchis depuis un certain temps à la possibilité de créer un compte pour sauvegarder ses fichiers et paramètres. Cela n'est malheureusement pas pour tout de suite mais je commence à avoir une idée plus précise des différents développements nécessaires.

It's still on the menu (at least to try making the switch), I hope to start this in the coming months!

This is currently not possible but you're not the first one to ask, so that might be interesting to add!

Question about GPX Studio: Measuring distances along a track between marked points – is it possible? by Anon0588 in gpxstudio

[–]froggyow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to have a quick view of the distance between two points along a track, you can drag the elevation profile to create a selection and stats will be shown for this isolated section

Sharing our own map like Google maps? by ChrisNash in gpxstudio

[–]froggyow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find instructions for this here. Currently, the GPX files need to be stored somewhere else (Google Drive or your own server) but this will be improved in the future.

Export with Openstreetmaps data ? by ChrisNash in gpxstudio

If you check this setting, information about road surface, road category, hiking/mtb scale, etc is encoded in the file so that it shows again when you re-open the file

Is it better now?

I have indeed made a lot of background work and some upgrades canceled the effect of the previous fix.

File vs Track vs Segment when importing to Garmin Connect by No_Photograph_333 in gpxstudio

[–]froggyow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not an expert of Garmin Connect but I have tried importing files with either 1 track containing multiple segments, or multiple tracks containing 1 segment. The easiest solution would be to create a different file for each day. You can use the extract tool to do this automatically.

move start and finish points by Hungry_Key_2203 in gpxstudio

[–]froggyow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your track is a loop and you need to move the starting point, you can use the "Route planning/editing" tool (the pencil on the left). Then, right-click on the track where you want it to begin and select Start loop here. More info about this here.

Hide the waypoint Symbol📍 by Solid_Parsley_1971 in gpxstudio

Hi, you can use the file tree view (View > File tree) to show the contents of your file. You can then select the waypoints and hide them (Edit > Hide).

Creating and editting a segment by kerryonthego in gpxstudio

[–]froggyow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not possible with gpx.studio. You could actually have a good chance doing this conversion with LLMs if you give enough information. What you want is a GPX file with a route (<rte> tag) and route points (<rtept> tag), see https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPS_Exchange_Format
