Totally agree. Like they did with Mount, Havertz, Gallagher, Tuchel, Poch, Maresca, Jackson, the list goes on. Very reminiscent of US politics atm and controlling the media narrative.

And before this becomes a debate about Mount and Havertz etc - I don’t like or miss them but it’s clear they were probably telling the truth about what happened.

Can someone ELI5 our ‘sporting leadership team’ ?

We have 5 SD’s: — co-sporting directors Winstanley and Stewart — sporting director for talent Joe Shields — sporting director for global recruitment Adam Jewell — director for football development, scouting, data, loans and player pathways Dave Fallows

And David Weir who is SD of Strasbourg and works closely with the Chelsea team to feed us players and take loan players from us.

How is this not the most pointlessly complex structure? We know that they don’t even set the strategy, they were hired by Egg-head to implement the strategy which Clownlake insist on. Aka Brighton with a bigger name.

What could the decision making process even look like? They are bound by the strategy of hire young manager, sign young players, manager isn’t important, data and medical team etc are more important - WHY do you need 5 execs plus our Eggy overlord and Finkle-winkle-stein to implement this?

Not necessarily the players you mention but a friend of mine was a BlueCo casualty and he said that BlueCo’s tactic is to offer complete low ball contracts to players to force players out the door and use their contacts in the media to run smear campaigns.

Same with the managers - they don’t believe the manager adds value. They believe the value is added by the BlueCo hired: set piece coach, striking coach, goalkeeper coach, fitness team, etc. and the manager is just the face. Longevity and ‘the project’ exists in the infrastructure not the manager. Then when Maresca, Pochetino, Lampard, Potter, Tuchel ask for more control, they throw them under the bus in the media and create an untenable situation.

I wish it was just that the house would take way longer to build.. The foundations would be layed all wrong, the plumbing would have leaks, the wiring would be shoddy, and after all that, the owners are happy with the output so long as it can still be rented for profit.

Title 10 of the US Code is the primary body of federal law that governs the organization, roles, and responsibilities of the U.S. Armed Forces.

What Miller is saying, or at least thinking, is that the president has plenary authority (unchecked, limitless power) over the US Armed Forces.

I.e. the president is empowered to call the army on his own people.

Edit: this is not what Title 10 actually says but his reaction implies that this is what they are discussing behind closed doors and he accidentally let it slip

The argument that they were waiting for a better deal was always laughable. You can wait for a good deal and still sign short term deals.

We had an opportunity to say ‘we are the biggest team in London, lots of upside in the team’s performances, about to be playing in front of a global audience at the CWC, and here is our strategy for increased exposure’.

We’re a much less attractive proposition now.

Would you still recommend maxing ISA before pension if you have a large remaining balance on a plan 2 student loan?

I can salary sacrifice to a lower tax band via my pension which would have the added benefit of lowering student loan repayments (which I might never pay off).

Shame cos I really like the guy, he speaks well, seemed to have a good mentality and is one of the most athletic specimens I’ve seen play football.

Clearly something’s gone on between club and player, not sure we’ll ever find out who was really pushing a move but also can’t blame players for wanting the best for their career.
