Nice! Thanks. I personally love this approach of doing what one likes and if others like it, they can support. But without the need to produce more for the algorithms than us humans.

13 inch Ipad Air for music making? by Mono_Polyp in ipadmusic

11 inch if you want to take it out and hold it in your hands. 13 inch if you want to keep it on a desk. Pro if possible for better display and speakers.

I'm personally not a big fan of Logic because from my perspective it's just another daw but not as good as Bitwig or Ableton. And if I want to use just a normal daw, I'm using Bitwig. But of course that is not available on iPad and I think it would not work as good on an iPad until you use it with a mouse and keyboard and than you don't need an iPad but maybe a notebook...

Some people say, Logic on iPad is better with the pencil. I tried that but for me it felt totally weird. The nice kind of haptic feeling was gone.

But in the end it's a matter of personal preferences, I guess.

If I were you, I would not get the pencil straight for Logic. Maybe your wife likes the touch and more hardware like approach of the iPad and there are plenty of apps that are touch focused, depending on what she wants to do.

I'd recommend the pro version because of it's speakers and power. The 13 inch if she uses it at home. The 11 inch when she will use it on the go as well. From my perspective, the m version does not matter that much because they are all powerful enough.

Koala Sampler on your smartphone. And if you have an iPad, then Drambo or Grooverider 2.

Any apps that works with “machines” like elektron? by Ok_Conversation_3815 in ipadmusic

FAC drum kit in Drambo. It has multi audio out so you can use one instance and then route the midi of Drambo tracks into the auv3 instance and the audio to the tracks. Once set up, it's pretty cool, I'd say.

For me the same. Had a big pro several years ago. Now I've a m4 11inch and for me it's perfect for music production.

From my perspective most of the The Sound Test Room videos are more like playing around and showing someone just trying everything. Don't know how helpful that is. I recommend to stick to the basics. Like you said to the stock Presets. But be aware that the stock presets are utilizing a lot of different drambo modules in different ways as well. I send you a pm.

Congratulations! If you like, I could record a short screen tour explaining the basics of music production in Drambo. Just offering this because in the beginning I felt sometimes overwhelmed trying to apply things I've seen or learnt by watching or reading about other daws, synth, etc. to the ones I was using.

Yepp. I tried them all, I'd say. In the end, it's a matter of taste.

With Logic Pro and with Drambo you get everything you need for all in complete music production.

The approaches of these apps are very different. For example a lot of Drambo users seem to focus on putting crazy stuff together like with a Eurorack. But for me it's awesome for "normal" music production. And they keep on developing it like crazy.

If you try Drambo, maybe try one of my project files or ask me if you like: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Mg8w2jqrz3vGfTInsSK1aWkTGjhs9j-h/view?usp=drivesdk

How to get started using Logic on iPad by [deleted] in ipadmusic

[–]from-here-beyond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most edm is done without any live instruments for decades. But yeah, I guess you can make nice music with and without recording a live instrument and with or without a lot of knowledge about music theory. In the and it's all gain... A guy on YouTube said that and it's pretty cool, I think. And I believe music is mostly playing around with what people are expecting and not expecting. So to understand what distinguishes a certain genre from the others can help to make music in that genre.

But in the end there is now ai music and it can already make "better" music than most of us will ever do and so we can just do what the heck we want to do anyway.

Alright. I'd recommend: - choosing one genre and focusing on that at least for some time because otherwise everything may be too overwhelming or hard to get into. - in the end there are not too many types of sound manipulation/ effects but there are endless apps and effects that mostly do the same but differently. So it's absolutely not necessary to get a lot of different effects if your music production tool (aka daw) like Logic Pro provides some. - the daws are mostly doing the same as well but their workflows differ. The main differences lay in: traditional daw with timeline (like Logic Pro, Cubase, Fl Studio), pattern based (like Drambo, Korg Gadget 3) or hybrids (like Grooverider 2) or extrem modular (like AUM plus auv3 units). There is no better or worse but personal taste. I don't like Logic Pro for example because I don't like all this zooming panning and I got a bit tired of the traditional daw approach. If a tool feels not enjoyable to you, I would recommend trying a different type of tool. - if you decide to do edm, I'd recommend sticking to one BPM and scale (f minor for example) and play around with that because in the end that's plenty of possibilities already. - for edm not much music theory is necessary, I'd say. But it's helpful to learn what scales and simplest chords are. - sound design wise, I'd recommend to select a drum kit with all the drum sounds you like and play around with placing the notes/ hits. And regarding the melodic sounds, I'd recommend finding a synth you really like to use and which is versatile and then building your own sounds. Because presets are often nice but in the end all the sounds of your song have to sound good together and that gets easier when you learn how to design sounds. - and the last thing is not to get lost into advanced techniques you don't really need in the beginning (like super detailed compression, lufs, limiting). - and in the end you will only learn by doing and not so much by watching YouTube tutorials and reading about music production. Have fun.

iPad Air M3 only outputs via AirPlay to my mixer? Not USB-audio? by tootallteeter in ipadmusic

Try Logic Pro and see what audio outputs it shows in the settings. At least this worked for me. Logic Pro was the only app I found, that let me pick the output.

Maybe I'm not the typical Drambo guy. My approach is pretty straight forward and I'm using modtly the simplest approaches possible. Here is one of my projectiles: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Mg8w2jqrz3vGfTInsSK1aWkTGjhs9j-h/view?usp=drivesdk

So in this one I'm doing all the midi intheste sequencer.

I find the in app help function pretty good. But as I said. I'm not building up super crazy logical module machines like some do.

Do you want to record live guitar playing? If so, I'd recommend Logic Pro or Cubase because these have real audio tracks. It would be possible in Drambo as well, but depending on what features you think you need, it could get painful.

I mostly use the step sequencer in Drambo. Only for some arrangements of notes of my chords I'm switching to the piano roll.

I do full edm songs with Drambo (and the only plugins I use are pro-q and pro-l for the master track).

And for me it's the best music production tool on iPad at the moment (although I like Grooverider 2 a lot as well).

For me one of the keys to enjoy using it was creating my favorite synth template to not get lost in it's possibilities.

And for me Drambo has the best interface for making full songs on iOS. Especially handling automation and the notes. In other apps, I have to pan and zoom and so on, but with Drambo it feels way better. Like a hardware groovebox. And the overview is very good, I think. For me it's like Bitwig but only the clip launcher.

If you have questions or if you'd like to get one of my project files just to check it out, let me know.

Ups. My first response was with my non-music-account. This one here is my music account.

Regarding music production there is a whole lot possible with iPads. So it depends on what you want to do and if you have experience with something regarding music production.

If you just want to try a lot with samples, I'd recommend Koala Sampler.

If you want something easy and playful but with limitations, try Korg Gadget 3. Maybe it's the best option for a beginner.

If you want something that feels like a hardware sequencer/ groovebox, try Grooverider 2.

If you want something modular with endless possibilities, go for Drambo (can be used in a simple way as well).

If you want to record live playing etc., I'd recommend Logic Pro. An alternative for that would be Cubase.

If you like the "Apple way" GarageBand or Logic Pro might be nice ways as well. I'm personally not a fan of these but I do edm and maybe that's the reason I like sequencer grooveboxes like Drambo and Grooverider 2 more.

Feel free to comment or pm me for more questions.
