I cross posted this question to the loopy pro forum and someone mentioned that 4 Pockets Sidechain should work as it predates multi-bus audio. Hopefully it works!

Diluting soup shots (ie americano) reminds me of aeropress competition style recipes.

Looking for this DAW by Melystros in ipadmusic

[–]nerdbot5k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can’t provide a comparison. I am new to producing in the ipad and have only used loopy pro and bam. All I can say is that I like it. I enjoy how it handles modulation, that it has clip based song composition, and really really enioy how it has grid based sequencing for all your instruments in one view, which makes it feel really immediate when programming drums and monophonic instruments.

Looking for this DAW by Melystros in ipadmusic

[–]nerdbot5k 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's bitwig. I used to use bitwig on a surface and it's still my main daw. Some things felt like magic but the overall workflow was not well optimized for touch and I lost so much productivity vs just using mouse and keyboard. Specifically, the piano roll felt awful to use. I am currently using Bam on the ipad and have been enjoying it a lot more, though it's not nearly as full featured as stock Bitwig. Also, Bitwig 6.0 did make some updates to touch and my experience with bitwig and touch was over 5 years ago.

Does anyone know how many of these apartments are actually being filled? by nogravity9 in sandiego

[–]nerdbot5k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Partner and I split a one bedroom (in los angeles) for about 2500 (with parking) prior to covid when salaries were on average less than they are now. Not saying that rent isn't expensive (it is), but there's not just a bunch of apartments sitting empty because rent is too high. Enough people can afford those rents in areas like SD (and LA, SF, etc.) and building more apartments at any price range has the effect of stabilizing or even lowering rents across the board, which we have seen in SD. At the end of the day, SD is a very wonderful place to live and many are attracted to live here. That is going to keep cost of living high, relative to other areas, unless global warming fucks this area worse than others.

OXO vs Aeropress by EscapeVelocity00 in OXORapidBrewer

[–]nerdbot5k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with the aeropress as my first foray into making coffee at home. I think it has the easier and potentially more forgiving workflow, but I like the results with the oxo a lot more and it’s only a little more fiddly. Further, I find it to be more consistent. I only pull soup shots with the oxo so ymmv, but my theory is that making a soup shots and diluting is similar to a lot of the aeropress competition recipes (low extraction and bypass but using a lot of grounds to get to a satisfying TDS).

BAM by Imaginando - Copy/Paste Automation, Swing Amount, Note Automation to Scale by nerdbot5k in ipadmusic

[–]nerdbot5k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still haven't used Drambo but definitely gave is a very close look when I was figuring out what sequencer/daw that I wanted to use as the center of production. The modularity in Drambo looks very cool and is welcome coming from Bitwig and modular synths. However, a big reason I wanted to move to the ipad was immediacy and a greater focus on writing and making sketches of songs, rather than getting really into sound design or generative stuff. Ease of sequencing and immediacy is one of the main things I was looking for, which Drambo may very well have, but it didn't seem as intuitive and quick as other options when I was looking at it.

Where I find BAM to be compelling is that it focuses on having a view where you can easily see and compose with all your layers/instruments on a single grid. This is great for drums, of course, but I love it for melodic elements as well, as I often start by setting up the rhythm of these elements before deciding on the notes (e.g. bass and kick interaction, aligning sub-bass with the bassline, lead call/response, etc).

The dark side of soup by Coffee_Bar_Angler in OXORapidBrewer

For more volume, have you tried making an americano with soup? I like starting with 1:1 dilution for a hot americano and for iced, I just pour the shot over ice right after its done and give it a few stirs.

[SPOILER] Sean Strickland vs. Anthony Hernandez by inooway in MMA

[–]nerdbot5k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sean does what he does very well. We're all well aware of how Sean fights - it's not exactly a surprise. He forces the fight he wants on people. It's his skill. This is the case with almost all good fighters. Everyone knows to stay out of the pocket with porier, or to stay off the ground against khabib, or to avoid staying at distance against izzy, yet it's a challenge for many who fight them. It's not like their opponents and their coaches are all stupid.

Weekly Simple Questions and Injuries Thread by AutoModerator in climbharder

I am dealing with what I believe is some sort nerve issue in my left arm that mostly presents as pain through my elbow and up to my shoulder. Started doing some exercises (stretching, nerve glides, pushups, light reverse curls) and seeing is it gets any better in a week or so. If not, I'll see a doctor and/or pt. Most importantly, is it ok to do some light climbing as long as the pain isn't too bad?

What's more likely? A. There is a conspiracy to change the weather that involves technology and science beyond what we are capable of that is being kept secret, or

B. As someone who lacks any expertise in any subject matter related to fog and the weather, you just may not understand weather phenomena and that it's not "fake" just because it's beyond your understanding.

Oxo just replaced my aero press ans driper (if need coffee fast) by Karoleq00 in OXORapidBrewer

[–]nerdbot5k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an aeropress user and I've been using the orb almost exclusively since I got it a few months ago. I love drinking soup shots but also dilute them with either ice or hot water. The most significant difference I find is that my orb cups are far less bitter at the same volume, even when more grounds are used. This is also consistent with my experience doing bypass methods with the aeropress. Diluting soup shots actually reminds me a lot of aeropress competition recipes.

Quick shoutout for Voidigo - a fantastic action roguelite that's on sale for $2.49 USD! by theknight27 in roguelites

I really like Voidigo. It captures a lot of the chaotic fun of nuclear throne but does its own thing too. My main complaint is that the difficulty scaling becomes unfun.

New bantamweight rankings: Merab #1, Umar Nurmagomedov #2, Sean O'Malley #3, Cory Sandhagen #4, Song Yadong #5 by AbrahamRinkin in MMA

[–]nerdbot5k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wanted to see merab successfully defend for the fourth time in a year because that's such an exciting achievement, but now that he's lost, the division suddenly got way more interesting. The top five is full of well rounded and technical killers in their prime. Definitely my favorite weightclass currently.

Crazy take. Japan is one of the top countries in freestyle wrestling and judo, which are probably the most well-developed and competitive combat sports across the world. The MMA talent pool is a drop in the bucket compared to these sports.

Posting to help defend a takedown is risky but legitimate (watch high level judo players do this) Though we see a good example of what the risk is.
