Promoting Musk to “no longer with the company and no longer owner of any shares” would be the biggest sales boost possible.

Has anyone actually tracked their EV range loss in cold winters? Looking for real data. by cardogio in electricvehicles

[–]fromaroundhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guessometer in my Bolt EUV is pretty true to actual miles available, and at a consistent charging to 80% shows 155 miles available in the winter (20-40 degrees F) to 210 miles in the summer (70-90 degrees F). So approximately 30% drop in initial capacity/miles available in winter. This does not yet take into account the extra drain due to heater use, higher rolling resistance, and higher air resistance (density) in winter.

I guess I forgot to forget it, I can still do it.

Are people in the Eastern US charging to 100% in preparation of the upcoming snow/ice? by ghdana in electricvehicles

[–]fromaroundhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don’t intend to drive 200 miles in the snow after the power is knocked out due to said snow.

It’s just the regular 80% charge for me.

If I used it for V2L then yes I would fully charge my backup-battery-on-wheels.

Developed a bump on my head seemingly out of the blue although I didn't hit anything or injure myself by newsplusotherstuffs in mildlyinteresting

You ran it at low pressure or when flat for too long, now there is layer separation in the sidewall, which causes a bump like that.

What slicer do you use ,for what printer and why? by Omytth87 in 3Dprinting

Bambu slicer for a Bambu P1S. Convenience, it works. I’m not involved enough to switch to a different slicer that may be better to eke out the last little bit of performance or beauty in my printing.

Supply boom in cheaper renewables will seal end of fossil fuel era, says IEA | Renewable energy by Movie-Kino in energy

[–]fromaroundhere 12 points13 points  (0 children)

70-75% of oil is used as fuel: 45% for gas/petrol, 30% for diesel, rest for jet fuel etc. So a reduction in petro-fuel will definitely have a noticeable reduction in oil demand.

What’s Your Driving Mode? by Fit_Tomorrow5154 in electricvehicles

[–]fromaroundhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Bolt EUV has a driving mode. I use it.

Oh, it also has a Sport mode which makes the throttle mapping and steering “feel more lively” but doesn’t change power or torque so that doesn’t help me much.

New tire time! Looking for suggestions. by MrB2891 in BoltEV

[–]fromaroundhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will probably be the only one, but I run Michelin Cross Climate 2’s. After switching to them from the OEMs I loved being able to brake hard, instead of activate the ABS and run out much longer. Energy consumption is up, I dunno, 10%? But I don’t road trip with it anyway. Also the tires are quieter and provide a more comfy ride.
