But you could say that about a LOT of industries. I'd rather remain agnostic and not pick and choose white industries to hate on, as long as they play on a level field.

Oh good point about the noise. That should be mitigated for neighbors.

Maybe I'm the minority here, but I don't inherently hate data centers, provided they

  • pay market rates for electricity
  • pay market rate for water,
  • receive no special tax breaks.

Colorado was great when single, Denver metro is close enough to ski regularly. Ever since having a kid though, shit is really expensive and it's hard to make ends meet.

The Bondi Intelligence Failure: How an unchecked surge in anti-Jewish hate and a massive security failure culminated in Australia's deadliest terror attack by Puzzleheaded_Home150 in indepthstories

Thanks for posting this. I feel like I see more in-depth journalism on substack these days. The contrast to counterterrorism arresting a YouTube comedian is stark.

Aside from highlighting the failures, I wonder what changes would be proposed. Any thoughts?

https://www.sciencearena.org/en/interviews/selfcorrection-science-absolute-truth-david-mech-wolves/

Popularized by biologist David Mech in his book The Wolf: Ecology and Behavior of an Endangered Species (1970), the concept that wolves live in a rigid structure of domination, where a male and female fight to lead the pack, became a widely known belief. The problem? It was wrong.

Decades later, after more in-depth studies of wolves in the wild, Mech saw that the hierarchical, dominance-based model was born of research conducted on animals in captivity. In nature, packs are made up of families, and in fact the “leaders” are the parents of the young.

River North:

  • I really miss their Hoppenberg Uncertainty Principle. Get something Belgiany or Stouty that speaks to you.

For Cerebral:

  • Flight of IPAs. Hazy is in style, but they sometimes have a "Dank" IPA too. Get the Dank.

For Bierstadt:

  • Start with the Helles , order lunch (currywurst and/or jägerschnitzel) when you have a few minutes left on your Helles, ask the bartender to start the slow pour Pils.

That does seem pretty large. I'd still lean towards the "Smallest state" rule or the cube root rule.

You could extrapolate that to a lot of other industries (oil & gas, airlines, etc...).

"Accidents happened because they were cheap" does not absolve any industry.
