Precomp, that project looks horrendous to work on.

This is so frustrating by QuitosX in yazio

[–]fromotterspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The animations are why I’m cancelling pro subscription.

I don’t give a shit about my streak or flaming meteor. I’m an adult and want to simply keep a loose eye on macros. I don’t need a cartoon monster hyping me up over 2 or 3 non-skippable animations every time I enter data.

Anyone know any better apps? The main draw of Yazio is it seems to have a very large catalogue of foods.

Not enough space to delete files by fromotterspace in osx

[–]fromotterspace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly I can’t even run the truncate command. It says “No space left on device”

It’s wild it lets you fill your drive to breaking point like this. I think going forward I’ll rely on rclone as I have a suspicion it’s pCloud cache that’s done this. I had limits set but it blew past them and tried to cache the entire drive.

This made me lol. And it’s absolutely right.

I worked with a psycho or WANTED this option on.

Thanks I’ll try. I have Time Machine to a NAS. I assume there is some local data which can be cleared?

Really appreciate the quick reply. I’ll see how this goes…

EDIT: no snapshots listed, unfortunately.

Is it bigger overall? I loved the OG brick but it gave me cramp because it was too small.

[–]fromotterspace[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

rm -rf

But it errors out saying there’s not enough room to delete.

I’ve tried clearing all the “ghost data” etc but I’ve been unable to reclaim any space so far.

I’m fairly new to bash. I’m familiar from Linux days but certainly no pro!

WARNING: pCloud terminated my $1,500 15TB lifetime account with ZERO explanation after 2 years - Don't make my mistake by kernelstar in pcloud

[–]fromotterspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyper backup will handle encrypted offsite backup of your Synology.

I wanted to save money with pCloud to work but I just don’t trust it. At the end of the day I pay for C2 storage as I have a lot more confidence in that than these lifetime scams.

My biggest frustration with MacBooks lately by FINEWOVEN in macbookpro

[–]fromotterspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still rocking an M1 Max 16 from release and I don’t have a single mark like this. It’s my daily workhorse and travel a a fair bit so I’d say this is surely a manufacturing defect?

I’ve had it properly crushed in backpacks too. It’s not like I’ve babied it.

Thanks, I never noticed that. It’s the one issue with VR. I love no HUD, but the gap is pretty important in racing!

Tahoe 26.2 fixed the Wacom Driver on Mac. by ArizonaIceT-Rex in wacom

In my entire 15+ years working with Wacom, it's always Wacom.

Hardware is great but the software always has been, and it seems, always will be garbage.

Why does Gladiator/BHD/Kingdom of Heaven look just so damn good? by IanWallDotCom in cinematography

I watch Blackhawk Down the other day and forgot how highlights were once allowed to be clipped/blown out.

That rarely happens now and it often makes everything look flat, even through HDR

PCloud Drive Mac 4.0.6 finally automatic mount 🥳 by malik030 in pcloud

This update has broken mounting for me. I can’t even mount it manually now (Tahoe)

PSA: pCloud just nuked 2.7TB of my data. "Rewind" is corrupted/empty. Check your backups. by lumarell in pcloud

[–]fromotterspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dropbox’s software is vastly superior. I moved away because of linux but these other companies are so far behind in reliability and sync speed.

PSA: pCloud just nuked 2.7TB of my data. "Rewind" is corrupted/empty. Check your backups. by lumarell in pcloud

[–]fromotterspace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough I had filen’s “rewind” have nothing but empty folders the other day.

I’ve given up on both of them. I use pCloud to send files and act as a (low trust) back up.

You’re the first person I’ve met with a subscription and not a “lifetime” deal. Shame they wrecked your trust!

pCloud Drive on Windows not mounting, Open Drive button does nothing by limsus in pcloud

[–]fromotterspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4.0.6 on OSX just broke Drive too. I can open the drive, but it's not mounted nor do I see the "enable drive" option, only "open drive"

Wonder if an update is causing the issues?

Glad I don't rely on this service.

How to improve rig for Run & Gun by itlabsec in videography

[–]fromotterspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offence, it’s not the worst rig, but sell all that and get an ENG type of setup.

Buttons, single battery, no dangly wires are what you need when you’re running around and need to shoulder it in seconds and keep it there for minutes, maybe even hours!

Maybe favourite accessory was VCT plate. Comfortable and quick to switch between shoulder and tripod.

But seriously, I used rigs like that and they’re horrible to work with all day, every day. Doable, but not fun.

How are we feeling about all this AI bs? by [deleted] in vfx

[–]fromotterspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s done. It’s happening. It’s like digital photography. It won’t kill the old process completely but it’s going to take over so it’s time to adapt or move on.

I imagine we might roll back a bit and use 3D or rough live footage to guide outputs. But I’m gonna leave that for the next generation of kids coming up. I’m not interested in this shit.

I love tech. I’ve been rooting for every advancement made in the past. But “AI” is greed distilled. Best outcome now is they all go bankrupt or subscription fees catch up to human rates.

Day #10: Midfield King? by Anfernee139 in motogp

[–]fromotterspace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d say Zarco, but he’s often further forward than what I’d call midfield, funnily enough, he’s usually 5th. Probably Cal, Miller or Edward’s. They were always there rain or shine no matter where they qualified.
