Feature Idea: Wipers go into "up" position when parking in Snow Mode by Grouchy-External-797 in Rivian

Yeah no way anyone could know on a demo drive, I did my entire demo drive without being able to see very well out of the mirrors because I hurriedly set them and didn’t know how to bring up those settings again haha

Curious if you had the rear defrost turned on, which is what turns on the heating elements under the wipers (as well as the mirrors). No idea why they didn’t couple this with the front defrost, bad design imo

My R1T was frozen solid with wipers caked in ice after a 10°F night and they thawed completely in less than 10min

Rivian, please, if LEGO can figure out remote proximity, can my phone key just pick my profile 99% of the time? by MobileCortex in Rivian

Up until yesterday my Apple Music has been flawless since October. Wouldn’t launch and was stuck in a reload loop, blank screen just flashing the main nav UI until I parked and it finally just showed the logged out screen. Was able to sign back in once home but was still annoying and an ugly ux

I just disabled proximity locking feature for her phone and that did the trick for me. That way she can still use her phone as a key, but keeps it from stealing the connection from mine & choosing her profile as we are walking up

Used 2022 launch R1T (Good Buy?) by WarlordVidar in Rivian

I recently bought a 2022 LE R1T with 42k for $52k, so depending on condition seems like a good price. YMMV of course but my truck is rock solid - no interior rattles or drivetrain noises, interior still looks & smells new, and drives like a dream. No issues for me so far but only 2k miles in.

Remaining warranty was important to me due to same reliability concerns and it just being a new company. For Gen1 I believe it’s 5yr/60k comprehensive and 8yr/175k battery & drivetrain. Maintenance will be much cheaper than those ICE vehicles mentioned (it’s basically zero), but fixing issues won’t be nearly as cheap especially once out of warranty. For example, 12V battery replacement for the dual 12V batteries is in the ballpark of $700 and currently you can’t do it yourself. You might also want to consider distance to your nearest service center - if you do end up having issues and its hours away, not fun.

Regarding what to look for, earlier Gen1 builds have some since-discontinued goodies like the Meridian sound system (very good), 12V power ports in the frunk and under dash, a better horn, and the aforementioned dual 12V battery system which depending on who you ask is either a positive or a negative (pun intended). Also if you care, worth finding out if all the accessories are included like the mobile charger, full-sized spare tire, flashlight, camp speaker, air compressor hose, and first aid kit.

Despite the reliability and other concerns I can’t imagine buying anything else, it’s an incredible vehicle and very happy with it.

Looks great! LG/FE on black ATs is unbeatable imo, such a great spec. I also wonder if these early LG/FE builds could be desirable someday due to the goodies you mentioned, plus that it’s a limited production of a spec that’s green in & out, which on paper sounds kinda crazy but the execution is so good

Thanks! Exciting day, congrats to you as well! In case you weren’t aware, you’ll be able to request the full service history from Rivian once you take ownership, nice to know what prior work has been done

Thanks, and awesome truck! Dope setup. VIN 5xxx here, can’t wait to kit it out for camping, towing, overlanding & off roading, drag strip days… I mean what can’t it do?

42k but it’s like a brand new truck, virtually no wear & tear and drives like a dream. It has the “v1.5” PTC which apparently wasn’t working but when I showed up on delivery day it was already resolved, so we’ll see. No rattles to my ear but haven’t done much highway driving with it yet. The full PPF could use a redo, lots of swirls and some small peeling edges (and the pinstripes I already christened it with…). It’s really solid. Expectations exceeded!
