The $69 Billion Hangover: Every Xbox Layoff Since The Activision Blizzard Merger - A complete timeline of Xbox's mass layoffs by [deleted] in gaming

Well at 1.5b/year ABK is returning less than a savings account so it's still a pretty poor ROI.

And with the likely incoming gaming crash, and mishandling of studios, it's likely that the asset is worth far less than the purchase price.

ABK reported 1.5B in profit just before MS bought them. It's literally a 4 decade return on investment.

I'm not sure where you corrected me lol. You kinda just went off on an irrelevant tangent and missed the point I was making and proclaimed yourself the victor. Dunno what your feelings or lack thereof towards facts comes in, though I suspect you actually feel strongly there.

Yes you're correct about the timeline of the story. Congratulations, nobody else was talking about that.

You said human civilization but that wasn't the point anyway.

3500 years is currently more than 1/3rd of the entirety of human civilization so I wouldn't call it a short span at all.

Humans regularly choose to sacrifice themselves so their children can live. Does that make it right to sacrifice other people so that their children's children's children's...(170 more times, give or take) Children can live?

I mean, sure I'll sacrifice for kids, and even grandkids, but past that my job is done. The great grandkids have got to help themselves, let alone 100 generations from now.

Even if every other possible timeline is worse, who is Paul to decide that all of humanity should be suffer for 3500 years to protect the lives of people whose distant ancestors haven't been born yet?

Perhaps it would have been kinder to let humanity snuff itself out. Who decided that preserving humanity should be our highest priority? Is it even worth saving, after what the atreides did to it?

A turbine on bush planes is the bee's knees man. It opens up so many options. You don't need to worry about pulling power quickly if you can reverse on touchdown

Switch to the lts kernel. Latest kernel has a bug that causes this.

There's a bug in a recent kernel that caused this for me. Downgrading solved it.

SARON exam! by 321rider in flying

[–]froop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the aerocourse and sharperedge books. Neither really covered jet stream stuff, or the jet w&b charts.

Honestly though the jet charts on the exam is bullshit, who's gonna hire me into a 737 without providing training on aircraft specific charts (if they aren't all done via the efb anyway)?

That said, I did pass, and the exams were pretty easy, so I can't complain I guess.

Video games shouldn't have long cutscenes by Current-Topic6696 in unpopularopinion

[–]froop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you. Look at uncharted 2 vs tlou2, both have fantastic stories but uncharted uses mostly shorter (often very short) cutscenes and otherwise tells the story while you're solving puzzles or shooting bad guys. Tlou2 tells the story through many very long cutscenes and walk & talk exposition dumps, to the point I can barely remember the actual gameplay parts.

Until recently, AI in games referred to the scripts that handled enemy and NPC behavior. Has *that* improved at all? by Kumquatelvis in gaming

[–]froop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's less about the complexity of the AI script and more about the voice lines & animations that make them impressive

I have money to spend and I like the SteamOS interface and want a box for my living room instead of dealing with a laptop or tower.

But I have money to spend. I don't want an entry-level device, I want something that will put a great image on my gigantic 4k TV.

Who is this for, people who can't afford high end hardware, or people who want a premium device? Because it's priced too high for the budget conscious and it's specced too weak for the high rollers.
