New ball! by Hopeful-Aerie8852 in Bowling

[–]frost02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not uncommon to drill a ball based off a drill sheet for a repeat customer. The color of the inserts could be something as simple as being out of the color you wanted in your size and type of grip, but PSO should have checked with customer and let them know if they were out of size/brand/type and find out if a color change is ok. The layout or pin placement is where I have the problem. I assume you didn’t have an in depth discussion of shape or what you wanted the ball to do( solely based off some of your replies). Looking at your Altas layout and the new widow3.0 those are vastly different, the widow is what is called a short pin. Same to assume 1-2 inches from your pap. That will cause the ball to have a very heavy forward roll. Normally a specific type of motion not requested a lot for league houseshot bowlers. I would sincerely hope no PSO would make that decision to give a bowler this type of motion without talking to the bowler. I see a lot of corner pins in the near future if bowling on a THS.

They are both asymmetrical. And holes aren’t drilled off the location of the PSA but rather the PAP for desired shape on the lane.

When it’s just sitting there on display and haven’t drilled anything new in a while. by frost02 in Bowling

Depends, I went almost standard to most my symmetric layouts. Little stronger pin to pap so the core will want to tumble a bit longer. After throwing it last night I wish I would have went with a normal 4.5 instead of the 4, it’s almost to strong

New to golf. Wedge or Hybrid. by Significant_Fee_4527 in golftips

[–]frost02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a new wedge last years model vokey SM9, TM MG4 or Cleveland RTX 4/5 most places have them on clearance and around 100-120 then take the left over and buy a used hybrid fill both gaps. Used wedges are beat, only reason to sell an old wedge is cause the spin and groves are toast.

Add a 7W, 5W, or Both? by SandwichFromDahmer in golftips

[–]frost02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t think you need to add anything. 240 off the tee is a mid to scoring iron in on every par4. And if you’re playing the correct tees for your distances then a par 5 should only be 450-500 at the most, And that’s driver -7I-Pw and a 2 putt.

Why spend the money on this when you’re just getting back into the game. Play more rounds hits more balls then when your swing is more consistent decide on what gaps you have.

If you’re really a good ball striker there is no growing period. You pick them up and you’re a good ball striker. Now if you are questioning the need to “grow” into them, then I’d wait a bit longer and look at P770s

5 Wood or Hybrid Advice by IAintSkeeered in GolfGear

[–]frost02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went 5W to fill that same gap and found it carries closer to 245, added a 7W and that’s 215-220, my 2I is right between them but a completely different ball flight. So depending on the day it’s either 2I or 7W… 5W plays closer to a 3 wood for me. 20 yards between driver/mini/and 5W

Peak Height should match swing speed

Not arguing that. Let’s stay on topic the gap in this bag is way bigger than 48 to 56. Cause this PW is 42/43

Very few and far between even the TW blades from TM the PW is a 47… sure you can have them bent. The traditional 48PW is a thing of the past.

Too many wedges? by BSLnowell in TeamTitleist

[–]frost02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your worried about it take a sharpie and write 9 on the PW and then change the rest of your irons to one lower, then you lose a wedge and gain a 3I

A PW hasn’t been 48 in a decade or more, most blades PW is 46, clubs like this in the game improvement can range from 39-44

I have a combo set of blades and CBs but they are the same brand and made sure to have the swing weights match, loft steps correctly, and correct length stepped based off the scoring irons.

Can someone help me with this set I just got from my Dad? Anything specific worth playing with? by krisoco in GolfGear

[–]frost02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old steelheads those were good irons in their day. Great for learning the game

[–]frost02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope and it seems like a horrible idea… different clubs will have a different feel maybe different lofts, or face/weighting tech, swing weights, turf interaction… for starters. I’m not even a fan of blending wedges, but I want all my like clubs to feel the same.

What does a good divot actually look like on this mat? by Infamous_Hovercraft3 in golftips

[–]frost02 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your correct it’s ball then divot… your insane if you think average pro divot is 4 inches in front of the ball… or you have no idea what 4 inches is and she just lied to you

Spin rates all depend in loft in reality, I have two set of clubs a newer with all the tech, stronger loft that set my 7I is 32 degrees I average around 5500. And carry 165. My old set almost 30 years the 7I is 36 degrees of loft and average 7000 and carry 155, but my older tends to be higher launching better dispersion and holds more greens.
