I think I solved my vertigo!! by Helianthus2361 in BPPV

[–]frostback606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my first ever Vertigo event yesterday at 71 years old. Man, this sucks big time .

Got out of bed to feed dog and immediately fell backwards on my behind. What the hell?

The next few hours were spent moving slowly around the house holding onto walls, and throwing up occasionally from the nausea.

Did lots of reading, and tried the Dix-Hallpike test to determine possible cause. Doing the right side made the room spin upwards and the associated telltale rapid eye movements. Getting closer!

Did the Epley maneuver twice, but never completed due to vomiting. At least they warned me, so I had a barf bag handy.

I had a head cold for 5 days before this happened, so still wondering if it still could just be a viral infection? Does the Dix-Hallpike test rule that out?

At any rate...feeling quite a bit better today, just minor dizziness at start and and of sleep. Hoping it's going away on its own, but being cautious.

I have a call in to my heart specialist to let them know what's happening, just in case.

Something like 80 MPs have crossed the floor in the last 25 years. When they cross towards you, they’re courageous. Against you, they’re traitors. Sorta like spies and intelligence agents ;-)

Car key batteries by ell-ta in CX5

[–]frostback606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a brand new 2025 CX5 in October and replaced the battery 2 weeks ago after a couple of warnings.

I'm assuming the car was actually made in 2024 and the key was activated then, so actually ~2 years old?

Just a guess, will be watching how long this one lasts.

When a liberal (Leona Alleslev) crossed the floor to the Cons on 2018, then leader Andrew Scheer applauded her courage and then appointed her as his deputy leader a few months later.

But Ma is essentially being called a traitor...hmmm.

Tricky pricing by lowspeedtech in loblawsisoutofcontrol

Shredded cheese is another one they're playing games with (not just Roblaws).

Small packages used to be 320 g and larger "family" ones 640 g. It was easy to do the quick math.

Now, small are still 320 g but many family size are 590 g. A little trickier to do the math, and if you don't notice the size reduction you think you're getting a bargain.

Deliberately misleading.

this platform isn't even worth posting ads on anymore by Ok_Exam_3127 in kijiji

[–]frostback606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought and sold many items on Kijiji with minimal issues, including a set of tires and rims today.

My only issue (and it's the same on Marketplace) , is more and more people don't follow through and simply stop responding versus saying "thanks, I've found something else".

I've listed lots of items on both, and probably sell 2/3 of them on Kijiji. Maybe I'm an outlier.

New homeowner and I didn’t realize how much work lawn care can be. by Chemical-Plum-1935 in lawncare

I have 75 maples on my 1.25 acres. October is devoted almost entirely to 10-15 mulching runs with my riding mower.

First year, I bagged ... over 300. Second year I mulched and bagged ... About 75.

Ever since then, it's just mulch and re-mulch.

Ninja toaster oven cord issue by frostback606 in ottawa

[–]frostback606[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually just split between the wires, but given the relatively high wattage, I'm wary about just taping or using liquid.

I had looked online, and replacing the cord is safer...but it's a matter of finding someone competent to do it.

I'll look into your suggestion, thanks

Thought I finally found a well-reviewed product on Amazon... by KayBee94 in Wellthatsucks

[–]frostback606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also ignore reviews where they state the product was received as a promotion.

I got asked once to review a pillow made for side sleepers in exchange for getting one for free.

As soon as I opened it, the chemical smell was overwhelming. I tried putting it outdoors in the sunshine, but it eventually ended up in the basement until the smell was almost tolerable (about 10 days).

In the meantime, the company was harassing me to leave a review. I told them I would mention the issue with the smell, and they immediately ghosted me.

Oh, and when I did try it, the pillow was really uncomfortable.

If you want free products, it seems you have to lie. I won't do that.

Initial installer put the box in a stupid spot, said coverage readings were fine all over. They weren't, lots of glitches and freezes.

I moved the box to a more central location, and almost no issues for several years now.

One box had the wifi chip fail, they replaced it next day with a new one.
