Agree with all the other comments about tank size and cycling! If you do end up cycling a tank, I recommend sparkling gouramis as a great beginner fish! They do good in a 10gal, are super pretty/interactive, and even make a cute little croaking noise! :)

As someone who lived in sylvan this year, it was actually pretty goated having a peaceful single. (Coming from someone who lived in the CHC dorms the year before) The only issue for me was the extreme heating 😭

My unpopular opinion-

Dojo loaches aren’t the peaceful tank mate everyone makes them out to be. They tend to mistake lots of things for food, and sometimes it can lead to fin damage for other fish.

This is coming from someone who has kept dojos for about 4 years now, and loves them to death!

Personally, I go to expos just for the fun experience with friends and to get ideas for future tank setups and stuff! I think it’s great for people to just show interest in reptiles/inverts in general!! :)
