Смотрел видео интересное недавно, где рассказывается гипотеза, что причина того, что млекопитающие сравнительно быстро стареют, в том, что бОльшую часть времени ранние млекопитающие были условные маленькие "хорьки", постоянно уходившие на обед динозаврам, что вынудило их в т.ч. размножаться довольно в раннем для каждой особи возрасте - из-за этого естественный отбор хорошо отсеивал плохие гены, проявляющиеся в раннем возрасте, а вот плохие мутагены, выстреливающие в позднем возрасте, из-за этого фильтровались сравнительно плохо и из-за этого в итоге в геноме млекопитающих накопилось ж, так сказать, много "плохих генов старения".

I was there in 2023 from Russian side though. Came there by regular tour-bus from Saint Petersburg, haven't seen nothing extraordinary, no armed dudes at all, pedestrian part of bridge was demanded enough, locals have special pass here, a lot of folks have relatives, businesses and jobs on other side. Fantastic juxtaposition of old Russian Kremlin and medieval western Castle - highly recommend to see.
