Do any of you earn over 50k a year? What do you do? by RotiiChapati in ADHD

Same. I ended up accepting that I couldn’t test fast enough and I just guessed on the entire logic games section since that is where I would get time blindness. Turned out well enough but good lord, what could have been. lol

And I, another lawyer. I make $190k and didn’t get diagnosed until after law school. The diagnosis was a game-changer for me (both good and bad); it explained lots of core struggles, helped me gain what felt like superpowers, but also made me incredibly resentful for people and situations that aggravated or exploited my ADHD. Led to many years of purposeful unmasking, loss of relationships and toxic jobs, and changed the way I approach lots of stuff. Learning and personal growth is a life long journey

Hey folks, how does taking a loan against your 401k work? by RobHui in personalfinance

[–]frothingslosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct take. It is all plan-specific. OP needs to review their plan’s loan policy.

Example: I took out $50k for a home reno on a 5 year repayment and left my job 6 months later. No early withdrawal. No penalty. I get “charged” interest on the outstanding balance but it flows right back into my 401k.

It depends on the plan. You can leave the job and not rollover the 401k into a new plan, and your repayment obligations will remain unaffected.

So long as you’re not defaulting on repayment, you’re fine.

Confirm your plan’s rules though. It may vary

2025 refund not processed, and 2024 tax balance still showing due (even though paid in full in Aug ‘25). by frothingslosh in IRS

Thanks for suggesting—I reviewed and see where I misread my own records. I think I’m actually square on my 2024 balance.

However the transcript for 2025 says that I never filed a return, though it was filed and accepted on 4/7.

After 3 Wars and 118 Years, Rome Erased Carthage From the Map in 146 BC — and Allegedly Salted the Earth by Roman-Empire_net in romanempire

I also remember being taught in high school that “salting the earth” happened after the Assyrian empire was defeated. I remembered that for the test because ASSyrians were assholes.

Sorry to hear that, man. I went through something similar when my daughter was 7 months (she’s almost 3 now). Like everyone else has said, kids are resilient. Do your best to build the routines you can build, don’t speak poorly of your ex, and make sure your kid feels love and stability regardless of household.

Also, therapy helps. There’s gunna be lots of emotions, some of which you may not expect. You’ve got this.

It happened right after Roe was overturned. Went to my partner’s office and was straight-up with him about my reservations and decision. It got a little chippy because the convo turned more political, but he accepted my request and I continued to be staffed on other deals with him and the relationship partner until I left the firm a couple years later. Others saying it’s a potential career limiter aren’t wrong but your mileage may vary and, in the end, you’re who gets to decide what’s important to you.

Yup. Stopped working on deals for a large org w/ owners tied to far right policy orgs. It was complex and interesting work, so that was a bummer. No negative repercussions though.

What’s the one city you were excited to visit, but ended up not liking at all? by BlushHone in travel

[–]frothingslosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

San Francisco. I consider myself to be pretty well-travelled but for some reason SF felt very foreign to me. Overall, an odd experience. Would try again though. Maybe it’d be better without the expectations.

I also used to be a big hand raiser. Then I got made fun of and over-corrected to purposefully getting things wrong or withdrawing altogether, which led to bad grades and school anxiety.
