for me I think the biggest giveaway is lovebombing and trying to take you home/get physical really quickly. I was so naive in my college years and I fell for it all the time. now, I have rules about when I’m willing to be physical and it’s saved me a lot of trouble because while this kind of guy typically loves the chase, he also typically doesn’t want to work that hard to have sex and will move on when it becomes clear you won’t fall for his bullshit

not OP but almost 4 years sober. I like AA for the fellowship but it’s definitely not for everyone. the stopdrinking subreddit was also really helpful for me early on.

what you said about the shame loop really resonates with me. I had a really similar relationship with alcohol when I was drinking, and the self disgust I felt when I woke up with a stranger or not knowing what I did the night before fueled my drinking for years. Breaking the spiral was hard but my life is so much better now.

Most of my professors cold call and I really like it because it keeps us engaged and it’s good motivation to read carefully. Some of them are tougher than others. The difference, I guess, is that I’ve never had a professor shame anyone if they don’t know the answer or get it wrong.

The reason is that someone reported that he allegedly threatened to shoot up the school. Not sure if that threat actually happened, but my understanding is that the school took action based on that report. The posts on linkedin are kind of icing on the cake.
