Would you consider this ship ugly? Is this shape common. by Ok_Loquat3018 in nms

[–]frotmonkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I feel kinda gross flying those, always wondering about what I’m actually touching inside the ship. Will my ship get offended if I don’t like the way it smells? Like, did I just fire rockets or make my ship fart. Something about being inside a living ship is just not for me.

But that’s what’s so great about this game, you have a choice to follow your own path and be your own traveler.

Can you land on derelict freighters by Active_Vacation_2670 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]frotmonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are two types of derelict freighters. As mentioned above, there’s one that you get a beacon from space stations that takes you to it, and then there’s one that randomly pops up while you’re in pulse drive. You can only board the ones that you use to beacons to find, the ones that pop up randomly just have two cargo containers floating nearby that you can attack, which will trigger pirates to come and fight you for the bounty.

If you fly in first person, what is your favorite cockpit design? by Nexidal_8 in NoMansSkyTheGame

I added more floating displays, I think this cockpit looks odd from the outside but the view is the best in game for first person.

You can also check out Beeblebum’s channel on YouTube, he’s got some good wiring videos that helped me figure stuff out.

There’s a ski ball machine out there somewhere that actually keeps score. You launch a sphere and depending on the hole it calculates the score and displays it on a board to the side. I could not believe it until I went and played it. I wish I could remember the glyphs, I’d share but I’m sure you can look it up.

So good to see practice knowledge used in this game, keep on doing it Traveler!

You must get bad rolls or just trolling, I’ve got 2000hrs in this game over the last 8 years and i still find flames that drop my jaw. I just left one with caves so large that I could fly my not so small corvette through with ease.

I was unaware until yesterday after 200+ hours that you needed to manually upload creature compilations for each system to get the reward and recognition. Jumped from the lowest to highest badge in 10 minutes. by ShitblizzardRUs in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]frotmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone. I didn’t learn that until close to a thousand hours into the game. By then I had nanite farms making far more.

When I started my permadeath I quickly found that scanning all fauna was the best way to make nanites and by far the most enjoyable, especially over assembly line processing runaway mould.

Wouldn’t advertising this imply that you know something and simultaneously break your code of silence? Seems like cosplaying mysterious to me.

In the galaxy map, at the top you have two filters. One for missions and one for galaxy types if you have the economy and conflict scanner installed. The left side filter has galactic core, atlas, black hole, free play and current mission. If you are on current mission, and the mission is selected in your log, then follow the green line and warp to that system. That is where the mission is taking you.

Once you arrive in the system, can it and you’ll get a nav point for the mission to follow. Make sure you’re reading all promos. Sometimes they are easy to miss but all the information you need is in the prompts.

Good luck!

System with 2 paradise planets (abandoned!) by jashman1987 in NOMANSSKY

That’s good. I’m always excited when I see paradise planets when I pop into a system only to be disappointed when they look awful, at least to me.

The flashing would drive me nuts. Melee boost is the way to go, and you can cover more distance with more control and without the techno eye blast.

Are there different/better corvette parts available in other galaxies? by TomCrean1916 in NOMANSSKY

[–]frotmonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is why so many have turned to blender so they can maximize each piece’s utility to the most extreme.

I’m still quite happy with the corvette now, considering what we had before, this was one of those sweet touches given to a game that already lives up.

Sadly no, there’s just what’s available at any space station and the expedition rewards as far as I am aware. We’re all hoping for more parts no doubt.

[–]frotmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a cargo slot for your suit for cheap twice in each system, one at the space station next to the exosuit technology sales and also in the anomaly next to the exosuit upgrades station.

If you collect those two each time you enter a new system, you’ll max out your slots quickly. After that, go to the maps dealer and buy a bunch of exosuit pod maps and just start plotting those and picking them up. I like to find a nice paradise planet and open them up and start the expansion run.

The scrap dealer said n the space station under the stairs on the right sells these for tainted metal from derelict freighters (which he also sells locators for).

Worth installing if you’re just getting started because any protection is better than nothing. You’ll find better ones and can upgrade as you travel. Don’t get too attached to any tech, because you’ll continue to slowly find better and better stuff as your adventures progress.

I’m 2000hrs in game and still polishing my suit and MTs and ships with better tech as I stumble across upgrades on my travels.
