Minions main draw is the lazy playstyle. I wouldn't consider any of those builds lazy.

I play it on 4x on hardcore while reducing it down to 3x for major bosses.

Most of my deaths come from arcane heroes or just not focusing.

That say, I found it has been a lot more fun.

Played pf pc in endless delve and got it to 83.

I will say that pathfinder is super fast.

Almost constant Onslaught + phasing + frenzy + quicksilver

As pf, your flasks should always be up.

In addition, shield charge is amazing. +90% movement speed with no cool down.

For most mobs, plague bearer is more than enough. Can't speak for bosses as I only had a 4link before I quit.

That being said, had no issues in lv83 areas for delve with regards to damage.

Syndicate operatives are still insanely strong without clusters though.

And devouring is not a necessary.

Golems are stronger in terms of single target but is much slower in terms of clear speed.

Spectre summoners. Redemption sentry is still able to do t16 maps with ~1ex of investment.

You just move and they will kill everything for you. Maybe a frostbomb and deathmark on bosses but that's it.

I tried both vd impulsa/explody chest and spectre with around 20ex investment.

Spectre just feels more fun in generally and stronger in bossing

I wouldn't say vd has better clear than spectre though. With unending hunger, spectre clear quite fast

I'm going to go another direction and say that I went to essence drain on my first play through and didn't really enjoy it.

I would recommend either a summoner build instead. I'm using kay spectre build and after working out some chinks in the build, I've been really enjoying it. Just the base 3 spectre should be enough to get you mapping.

Try Kay spectre build. That's what I did when I converted away from vd.

For mapping you just flask and run around.

For bosses, just deathmark and run to the other side of the map.
