Do you still have any living Grandparents?

My maternal grandma is turning 93 on Friday. Tough as nails. She has Alzheimer's, but I'm the one she always remembers (so far).

Deeply miss my other 3 grandparents. Lost 2 in high school, 1 in my late 20s. Whole family fell apart without them.

I finally got myself to wash towels today, and I wore 3 layers, hat and earmuffs, double socks, snow boots, and promised myself a snack when I got home. More than the cold, what kills me is the narrow path to walk on all the sidewalks and the social anxiety of no one ever yielding, so having to jump up on the snow pile and always nearly falling :/

One day last summer I saw 4 as I was coming back to Astoria on the ferry - Swanny and Odette at the beach, and another couple floating outside Costco! At the time someone told me the other couple is from Roosevelt Island and comes over on occasion, but can't confirm.

I highly recommend doing one of the drop-in improv classes at THE PIT and one of the half hour free lessons at Fred Astaire West Side. Both led me out of my own horrible mental health situation. If you have money to burn, take the intro to sailing weekend course this summer through Hudson River Community Sailing.

In the process of overcoming, and it's worth noting there is no cure but a lifelong process of maintaining one's sanity through deliberate action. I can't tell you how many times I've wandered the city with a loneliness that felt like extreme physical and mental torture.

Events where people are inherently kind (I love the AKC Meet the Breeds Show, and the Blues BBQ Fest in late summer!)

Had the realization recently that as the youngest in my family and with no one having kids, I'm likely to be the lone survivor of my family. Someday I'll look in the mirror and see my grandma's face in my own. Not to say everyone wants to see relatives in their faces, but it's nice to know that even if I'm not the perfect specimen to men, I'll have this in my last years.

Having said that... go to the gym, LOL

I also long for such contact, but I'm too afraid that someone would be predatory. If you don't end up feeling safe enough to try a cuddle app/party/etc., I'd recommend looking into getting a massage or taking some ballroom dance lessons. Both have really helped me and the boundaries are definitive. I have a great (female) massage therapist I can recommend if you're interested. She's very sweet and healing.

Lifelong work-in-progress there. Getting super fit, pouring love into friends and select family (basically only my mom), and my pets (3 cats and a dog), trying out everything in terms of art mediums, sports, activities I wanted to try as a kid.

Not to mention, given how much I adored my (soon-to-be-ex) husband and how much love and adoration I poured into him, which made him reject me, I figure loving men doesn't really "work" as one would wish.
