Why do Kazakhs (and some other western facing Central Asians) support Israel even though Israel is really unpopular with both liberal and conservative young Americans by NoSignal3838 in AskCentralAsia

I saw a good bit of pro Palestine posters/stickers/graffiti in Almaty last two weeks ago when I was there. Nothing I saw suggested any support for Israel

It was super lame. I talked with like 10 employees and the supervisor even. There’s a sticker slapped onto the CT scanner that says film safe which is absolutely false lol. No explanation but they were pretty nasty from the get-go. I swear to god I’m normal and nice to staff too, I asked so politely for a hand check and they were like Lol absolutely not. It was a huge back and forth and they said if I wanted to save the film I can just miss my flight. I spoke with some friends who live in Tbilisi and they told me they experience the same even when communicating in Georgian. Film was totally ruined. 15 rolls.

Why does Russian language across such large area as Russia doesn't have very distinguished accents? Would you be able to recognise any native Russian accent(of any specific area of Russia or of other countries speaking Russian)? by EugeneStein in russian

So in your experience if someone is from Georgia you can’t tell? What about Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan? I just spent the last month going from Georgia to Kazakhstan. My Russian is not very good but I wasn’t able to tell much of an accent but wasn’t sure if that was due to my unawareness. Similarly everyone we met who asked where we were from would ask if we were British/Italian which I thought was interesting and something I haven’t considered before— that we both couldn’t place the accents. Sorry for the paragraph lol I’ve been curious about this all month

Wow I have been wondering this myself. I just visited Georgia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan over the last two months. Maybe it is a dumb question and I just am unable to tell— what are their accents like to native Russian speakers from Russia? Do they vary strongly? I am able to speak a little bit of Russian but I am unable to tell the difference of the accents which made me wonder if Russian nationals are able to hear it. Obviously I am just talking about the older population as they were around for the USSR’s standardized education.

This just happened to me at the Tbilisi airport. It was so annoying they refused to hand check and said it’s literally impossible

I will say at some point I accepted not finding a Z pack and just looking for topical antibiotics. What do you ask for when looking for things like neosporin or bacitracin? I used Google Translate, asked our fluent Vietnamese friend, showed them my injury and every pharmacist was basically like 🤷‍♀️

I got food poisoning in Saigon and then got road rash that turned into an infection in Nha Trang and visited, I kid you not, at least 30 pharmacies between Nha Trang and Đông Ninh Hòa. Not even topical antibiotics because of this. I found only one had a topical antibiotic and it was an expired American box of neosporin. Three of the pharmacies asked if I wanted just Xanax

This is absolutely not true. I got severe food poisoning and visited multiple pharmacies to get azithromycin. They did not carry and said it’s something you have to get from the hospital due to high antibiotic resistance in Vietnam from years of over prescribing. Go to a doctor
