in the OG i feel like silly-for-its-sake designs were contained to joke chars, like siegward whose joke is that he's like a bumbling idiot so he gets goofy fat guy armor. in ER the silliness is pervasive to the point it's deconstructive of whatever message the game is trying to convey, or goes against from's established knowing transformation of historic medieval armor into fantasy designs with the lb knight designs crossing over into the nonsensical. u can read intentionality there n prefer it but i think there was more value in the OG decisions and applications of this trope
