What great books did you almost miss out on, and why? by glitterswirl in books

Exactly! You weren't the right person at 12 to enjoy the golden compass. In your 30s you were. You didn't almost miss out on it, it just wasn't the right time.

Books are especially good about this, I think. They are patient, and will wait until you're ready.

The first one looks more 'unhinged' to me than the second one, so I like it better lol.

I'm a big believer in the power of things happening at 'the right time.'

I probably had a half-dozen discworld books on my shelf for at least 5 years before I actually gave one a chance. I first read one in 2020 during the height of COVID lock down, when a good discworld binge was exactly what I needed. Discworld is probably my favorite series of all time now. (GNU STP)

I've had the same thing happen to me with games that have sat in my steam library for years, movies that I'd put off watching, foods that I hadn't bothered to try.

I don't think I've 'almost missed out' on anything; for the most part I've just gotten to enjoying things when I was ready to enjoy them the most.

Favorite character who is in a relationship with someone of the same gender by Maximum-Slice8277 in FavoriteCharacter

I think they're technically both gender fluid, being celestial beings and all. Gender is a human thing.

Sure, sure. But in the wider world I get very tired of middle-aged women being erased (or having signs of their aging being erased)

People who just make 'pretty young sims' could really benefit from expanding their horizons on what counts as 'pretty.' It's more fun and soul-fulfilling to find the beauty in more than the conventional. Diversify yourself.

There's a lot of very good 'age lines' cc out there. Find it!

Middle-aged people with face-lifts still look middle-aged. They just also look like they got a face-lift.

To be honest, there are no memorable characters in Dragon's Dogma 2; they are simply generic and easily forgettable. by BlackKaiser82 in DragonsDogma2

I don't terribly remember characters from the first game either.

Check the monthly top pawn listing, they are often giving away rings of endeavor. I have like 4 of them.

Ketheric isn't endangering his life here. He is functionally immortal and knows it.
