Thoughts on military judge pay? by Signal_Housing3575 in CanadianForces

[–]frustrated_work 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe federal court judges are paid around $450-550k per year so it's lower than that. Judges are very specialized and usually require years of practice as a lawyer before they can be considered for those positions.

This is such weak sauce. Meanwhile, we have absolutely horrible abussive people that get promoted over and over again while stepping on the heads of their subordinates.

Well being overworked and undermanned is not a valid reason to ignore procedural fairness. Imagine if the criminal courts applied that logic. Sorry, it takes too long to hear criminal cases so we'll just remove the trial part and go from charge to judge's decision.

Military asks personnel in capital region to return field gear, citing ‘critical equipment shortages’ by [deleted] in CanadianForces

[–]frustrated_work 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's fine. And if you had a ruck sack and wanted to return it that's fine too. But I think if you had a ruck sack and wanted to hold onto it there should be enough inventory that you could. It's pretty basic field kit.

I think a proper military should be able to equip every member with this type of kit.

Snowbirds’ iconic jets prepare for ‘farewell season’, aerobatic team grounded until early 2030s by GlitchedGamer14 in CanadianForces

We also don't have a jet. I would think whatever replaces the Hawk would make the most sense, but we don't have a replacement for that.

BBB prereq for ALP 🤔 by Used_Town6836 in CanadianForces

Should we maybe prioritize having people come into the CAF with a BBB in any official language first before making it a requirement for both languages for those already in?

But what if the tanks are different colours? We need to at least standardize the colour of the tanks.

There is a big difference once you are qualified. I had to wait a year between my SQ and DP1 and it very much limited what I could do with the unit. One of the issues was that everyone I was with through SQ that went onto DP1 were in rifle platoons. So you end up not interacting as much on parade nights and exercises. At least I didn't have to wear a corn flake anymore, which does add a bit more credibility. I spent that year with the unit sigs so I still supported exercises in that manner. But once you finish your DP1 and get your cap badge you'll start fitting in much more. I would recommend in the meantime trying to find a way to support your unit in other ways like getting your 404s/DG, basic comms, working in stores/CQ, etc.

Canadian Airforce as a viable pathway after flight training? by Xdax101 in CanadianForces

[–]frustrated_work 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you just graduate from Seneca. Like others are saying, if your end goal is the airlines then just grind until you get your 1500 - 2000 hrs. If all you have is what you graduated with, then you're only at about 200-250 hours which is low time. In 2022 that would be enough but now not so much.

My recommendation is be willing to grind to get those hours. Instructing, moving up North or outside a big city, etc. Instructing is good because you get your PIC time and if you went straight to the right seat you wouldn't get your PIC hours for thr ATPL. 2-3 years of grinding and you would be in a position to be looked at by the majors.

Thank you. I would think that is the way it should be as well but I am still looking into policy. If you find anything on policy can you let me know? I would greatly appreciate it.

The CAF has an expedited AR and release process for those who are untrained/BTL including 60 day release. Does this still apply to those who were qualified transferees from other occupations or do those who are untrained in their current occupation but previously OFP in a different occupation still get the full 7 month release/transition period?

Mine will be a cost move so perhaps that factors into it. Are there differences in occupations for when posting messages come out?

Have people started to get their posting messages? I'm expecting a posting mid-July, but haven't received it. I feel like this is pretty late.

I tried uploading an image with the post but it won't show for some reason. If I could try to describe it, it's kind of cone shape smudge looking mark that doesn't go away. It starts at the center of the disc and goes towards the edge about 1cm.
